I remember when this place first opened and everything was $1.50. It was a cute little spot and I’d stop in when I could. Coffee isn’t the most amazing but you are able to get some tasty lattes and change up your milks. Love the almond croissant. Tried the cheese bureka and it was a greasy mess. The atmosphere is nice and I thought I’d go in and do some work when the worker informed me there is no wifi for customers. Further disappointed when I tried to use the bathroom and was informed that wasn’t for customers either! Doesn’t seem right and definitely detracts from the appeal of Matto.

I come by here for work all the time. Newton makes the best drinks, and holds down this establishment like none other. He is so fast that even when there is a line he gets it done so quickly that I'm always amazed when I get to the front and he's the only one there! And he is still a smiling and pleasant individual even under stress! When I come there is laid back afrobeats playing and even during a stressful day the combination of newton's happiness and smile and island music playing puts me in a good mood. Matto is a chain but I hope they do not become so corporate that they require awful music. Also, we need to pay people like Newton more-- he is the reason people pick this place in the neighborhood!

My first time trying Matto and I couldn't believe I have been missing out all this time. Their iced latte is strong (if you need a good wake up drink then this is affordable and delicious). Their service is quick so it's great for any time you need to just "grab & go." Because it is designed to be efficient for NYers to come in & out quickly, there isn't room for indoor seatings but it is a friendly place. Tips: download their app for quicker orders & savings
Matto Cafe has become one of my all-time favorite spots. While the decor may not be the most lavish, the warm and welcoming employees more than make up for it. The service is consistently efficient, which is a big plus for someone on the go like me. What truly astonishes me is how affordable the prices are, given the quality of their coffee and pastries. It's a delightful surprise that such a gem doesn't break the bank. I can't recommend Matto enough for its great value and overall experience.
