I liked their pork dumpling. The kung pao chicken could be better. Service was just okay, but I do sense a vibe of fakeness from the staff.

Not only is the food delicious but the staff is also great. Restaurant is very clean and it is veryyyy hard to please me when it comes to dining out but I have repetitively gone back to Mazu because it’s truly amazing and portions are big and so consistently amazing! My favorite local restaurant

Details in regards to the ambiance and decor is top notch. Food is also prepared with the finest care almost to the level of a Michelin restaurant. The soup dumplings were phenomenal and their happy hour was thoroughly enjoyed ? will definitely be making this a staple when going out. ?

Ordered delivery from this restaurant from GrubHub. Tried lemon chicken, clear soup and appetizer meatballs. The meatballs were in a brown sauce that was way too salty and only tasted like soy sauce. The chicken was tough and rubbery and the lemon dipping sauce has an odd flavor. The clear soup which was similar to wonton, also had an odd after taste of ginger. Would not order from here again.

Just take away the rice to rice. The price in another way is really not ethical.

I have been one of the first customers of mazu since they opened and I think I can claim their most loyal one too. Mazu is exactly what you want from a neighborhood Chinese restaurant, quality food, quality ingredients and same flavor almost every time. I have ordered from them almost every Sunday for the past 2.5 years and eventhough I moved out of New York I still go to them every Sunday that I’m back in New York. Only thing that has changed in the past nearly 3 years is their Dan Dan noodle, if we can make that thick sauce happen again that they made previously it would be ideal. Love this place and would 10/10 recommend to everyone.

Consistently good general tsos chicken - if you are a devout fan like me you understand it's hard to find in the city for unknown reasons. Pieces aren't over breaded but still crispy, good sauce that could use a little more heat uptick but still delish. Soups have all been good too. Good portions all around. Delivery is quick. Will keep ordering from here, and based on other reviews will branch out to some of the more traditional offerings (tho the generals is just so good!) Have heard good things about dine in as well.

We wound up here after finding out the Greek place we were looking for had closed. So glad the Greek place was gone. All the food here was so good, especially the curry lamb. The server warned me it was spicy and offered to cut back a bit and the result was delicious. Absolutely tender lamb chunks in a cumin-forward sauce that was powerful and unusual and that I'd easily order again. What a find!

Ordered lobster fried rice for $24 , once I got home and opened the container what I saw was clumpy white rice with literally little to no lobster neither did it look like fried rice ??? I called the restaurant and spoke to the same person who took my order , I proceeded to tell her that I just paid $24 for lobster fries rice with little to no lobster in clumpy white rice !! Her response was yes SORRY !! Please avoid ordering lobster fried rice .

4.5 of Google rating is 100% overrated- scallion Too greasy and too dry. I don’t know how it’s possible that you find these two things in the same time. The deadly problem is the wacky sweet soya sauce. Scallion pancakes should go with garlic spicy sauce, period.Hot spicy beef( 水煮牛肉): 2.5/5The level of the dish being authentic only comes from the look of it. Taste and smell is just not there at all. Too much tendering powder is used for the meat preparation hence making the juice very muddy. The taste is nothing but salt, not enough various spices there. This dish is a very important benchmark for any Sichuanese cuisine, if you mess up this one, you are basically just a scammer cooking with no soul/respect for the cuisine. Yes I can see where this is coming from, a lot of adaptation to white people’s taste.Thousand spicy chicken (辣子鸡): 1.5/5This dish originally come from Guizhou province and it’s famous for its spiciness. The dish from this restaurant is just so wrong in so many possible way: 1. Almost no pepper (and therefore not really spicy at all); 2. Only salty taste and nothing more; 3. Chicken is just lame: the chef took the shortcut of dipping the meat into breadcrumbs, making the texture sooooo wrong (not chewy at all), and soooo greasy. The chicken inside just taste wrong. In short, if you are a Chinese foodie hoping to get some home flavor, don’t come here. It’s 100% adapted to white people’s taste and lost almost all the originality of how Sichuaneze cuisine should be. AVOID AT ALL COST.Ambiance: it’s literally depressing - it’s like 80s 90s disco in the mist of bareness/recessed town, not the vibe I’m looking for to dine.

The year of the Dragon @ 9pm on a Saturday night, Mazu was half full. We otdered a starter portion of Dan Dan noodles...meatless & spicy...at the top of my heat level as well as salt & pepper Shrimp that were absolutely wonderful...moist, great flavor with lite crispy coating & the right amount of salt. We paired everything with Tsing Tao beer, a perfect match. Our friends had spring rolls, mu shu pork & tangerine beef that they enjoyed. There were no leftovers. We will be back.

4 - Met Expectations. Was in the mood for some soup and dumplings. This place hit the spot and satisfied that craving. Will probably come back to try something different.

We had dinner at Mazu Jan. 18 and 19 and the food was fresh and full of flavor. The vegetable soup was hot with crisp, large vegetables. Kung pao chicken was perfectly spicy both meals. Brown rice was a little more flavorful the second meal than the white rice was the first meal. The service was attentive and polite both times and they made us feel like regulars. I look forward to returning and recommend Mazu.
