I'm really thankful to the servers and host for taking care of us. We had to wait a little bit for our table because the staff graciously allows walk-in guests to use reserve tables for a limited time. It was all worth it though because our meal was fantastic! Despite this being a topless restaurant, all the portion sizes were actually pretty great. I think they gave us more cod fritters and gambas per serving as a courtesy. Had a great time, and will definitely come back!
The menu is very much like what they used to have at Spanish Diner - classic Spanish tapas and small dishes with enhancements to make them more appealing to an American audience. For example, the salmorejo is served with chunks of tomatoes and hard-boiled eggs. The pan con tomate is heavy on the tomatoes. The tripe stew was delicious with the tripe melting in your mouth. All delicious, but decidedly different from anything we had in Spain. Oh, they do have the pearlized olives from El Bulli.
Been to La Barra on several occasions for lunch and have enjoyed each visit. Had different tapas at each visit and all were excellent. Our server, Pablo, was excellent and made the visit more pleasant.
Ambiance is fun, exactly what's promised in its name “Mercado”. Much different from the ambiance in all the other restaurants in Hudson Yards, namely “very posh”, which is why we chose it ... we've been to many of the other restaurants, and enjoyed them, but posh all the time is tiresome.
All of the tapas were excellent--even the liquid olives which I'd never tried before. Our Colombian waiter was wonderfully helpful, incredibly pleasant.
Fantastic food except the Cod Gazpacho was a little too salty, our server Maria was great and made up for the overall experience.
Food was excellent but I felt like we were in a cafeteria. Incredibly opposite of what you would expect in Spain. The kiosks are expensive and what is available is not what we expected. Why not a true store where you can buy jamon ny the pound?
Our server was great. The food is pricey for the sizes. I know it's tapas but it's still overpriced. Some food took over an hour to be served and the chicken paella was embarrassing. Please don't order it. I recommend you make reservations.

Whether you're a foodie looking to explore new tastes or simply someone who appreciates high-quality cuisine, La Barra is the place to be.
Whilst the food was outstanding, really tasty and great portions, there were a number of items unavailable which was not clear until we had ordered.

This place is ridiculously expensive for mediocre food. The gambas shrimp dish was a joke. Shrimp were tiny. The size of the cheese and sausage appetizer were too small. The paella dish was two tasteless chicken wings with rice and one vegetable. Worst I ever had. The cost of the Iberico ham was beyond egregious. $39 for one ounce. That's $624 per pound. Are you kidding me!!! I can buy that on-line for $40-$50 per pound. You couldn't pay me to go back to this place.
The potatoes are excellent and so was the wine. No ambience but I knew that when I went. There are better restaurants for their price point which is on the high side.
The food was good, a bit bland for some items but the service was great and really fast. Will definitely come back if possible to complete with some churros
I love when your expectations of something turn out to be spot on! Love this place! Food, ambience, decor, all was great and made me feel like I was in Barcelona! Waitress seemed stretched thin so service could have been better but we had a great girls night!
Amazing tapas! I especially liked the pulpo, the anchovies, and most especially the callos.
