Simply amazing, we recommend. Food is good, staff is very nice, cocktails are good, ambiance is cosy, music is not too loud and you can a normal conversation without screaming.
Went with my wife after à Broadway show, We found it randomly on Resy App .

Ate here on Monday 17th November 2025. Warmly greeted on arrival even without a reservation. Had wonderful home made bread and a gorgeous lentil dip. Bruschetta, Gnocchi and beautiful pannetone with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. One of the nicest meals I've ever had. Highly recommend!

Even though the restaurant was full, the service was excellent from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, prepared with great care and high-quality ingredients. The staff were quick, attentive, and very friendly. The owner personally greets guests and makes sure everyone is happy, which makes the experience even more special. You can truly feel the passion and dedication in every detail. I’ll definitely be back!

Dear Mercato Management,

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the way we were treated at your restaurant this evening. We had a confirmed reservation at 7:30 PM, made through Resy, and arrived at 7:48 PM — only 18 minutes later. Despite this, we were told by the manager that our table was no longer available.

What made the situation worse was the manager’s arrogant and dismissive attitude. We waited for several minutes for him to appear, only to be told there was “no table available,” without any willingness to offer a reasonable alternative. Ironically, when we checked Resy right afterward, we could clearly see that tables were available for 8:30 PM, as shown in the attached screenshot.

A professional manager could have simply said, “We cannot seat you right now, but we can accommodate you in 30–45 minutes,” which would have been an acceptable solution. Instead, we were treated with unnecessary rudeness and a complete lack of hospitality — something unacceptable for a restaurant of your reputation.

With management behaving this way, it’s hard to imagine how the restaurant can be run properly or continue to maintain the standards expected in New York’s dining scene.

We tried it based on the google reviews but at end is a place to avoid. The food is ok, but the service is terrible specially the seating rude gentleman ( and we had a reservation!).

If I could give zero stars, I would. We stopped in hoping for a simple meal, but the experience was disappointing from start to finish. I asked if I could just have plain noodles with butter (I can’t have red sauce), and they told me they had no way to do that even though they clearly have butter! Instead, the server “recommended” another dish… which was made with red sauce.

When we politely declined, we were told we had to pay for a $10 bottle of water that we didn’t even drink. Since we had to pay for it, I poured the water back into the bottle to take it with us — and they gave attitude about that too. As we left, they even huffed when we left a $0 tip after sitting for less than five minutes.

The lack of basic accommodation and courtesy was unbelievable. If you’re looking for an Italian restaurant that actually cares about their guests, do yourself a favor and walk three blocks up to Don Giovanni Ristorante. Better food, better service, and people who actually listen.

Authentic Italian Dining in NYC

If you’re looking for authentic Italian food in New York City, MERCATO is a must-visit. On my recent visit, I ordered the Caprese salad with a side of prosciutto and paired it with a cold Forst beer, and it was an unforgettable experience.

The Caprese salad was beautifully presented with ripe heirloom tomatoes, creamy fresh mozzarella, fragrant basil, and a drizzle of high-quality olive oil with a touch of balsamic reduction. Each bite tasted fresh and full of flavor, showcasing the simplicity and elegance of true Italian cuisine.

Adding the prosciutto elevated the dish even further—the salty, delicate cured ham paired perfectly with the sweetness of the tomatoes and the richness of the mozzarella. It transformed a light starter into a gourmet experience.

To round it all out, I enjoyed an ice-cold Forst beer, an Italian classic. Crisp, refreshing, and slightly bitter, it was the ideal complement to the fresh flavors of the salad and the savory prosciutto.

MERCATO is not just another Italian restaurant in NYC—it’s a place where authentic Italian flavors, high-quality ingredients, and a warm, rustic atmosphere come together. Whether you’re stopping by for a light bite or a full meal, I highly recommend trying the Caprese salad with prosciutto and a Forst beer. It’s the perfect combination for anyone craving a true Italian dining experience in Midtown Manhattan.
