I ordered the clam chowder. It came in a thimble. Oysters were good.

One of the most delicious New England clam chowders I’ve ever eaten. Nice cocktails too.

I usually dont leave reviews often with that said. Customer service and staff were great. Food was well bland as heck. We went becuase of the great reviews only to be left with a unseasoned meal we couldn't wait to leave. Upset with the price we paid for something that lacked flavor. Very disappointed dont recommend.

Disappointed in the surf and turf entree. Not flavorful. I guess I should have gotten a fish option.

Loved this was my first oysters ever. The happy hour process we're very good especially considering the location. Literally no complaints. The clams were also very delicious. Will certainly come back when I'm in the area.

a few weeks ago, went to the Merrmaid oyster bar on the upper West side had a fabulous meal awesome bartender…… the calamari and shrimp and avocado sliders were amazing ….. had dinner again last night at the Mermaid oyster bar in Times Square both Food and service were amazing… it’s a must to have the Chunu, wellfleet & naked, cowboy Oysters.. Shanghai spareribs and kale salad with chorizo crusted Chatham cod was fabulous…. lastly, linguine, and clam with the lobster roll was my favorite throughout the night…..

The drinks were not very good & not much of a selection.
The food was decent but you had to pay for bread for the table and it was bland.

A very enjoyable spot! The oysters are absolutely delicious. I highly recommend going during happy hour. The calamari is also good, but the oysters are definitely my favorite. Drinks are included in the happy hour too, and my favorite was the one with strawberries!

We’ve always loved Mermaid Oyster Bar in Greenwich Village, so we were excited to find one in the heart of Times Square! Didn’t get oysters this time, but the shrimp and avocado slider was amazing — flavorful with just the right kick. The lobster roll was fresh and perfectly dressed, a total winner.

My husband declared their burger the best he’s had in ages, so that’s saying something. Great vibe, friendly staff, and solid cocktails to round it all out. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to, oyster or not!

Good prices for happy hour … but pretty average oysters. Service was quick, pleasant, and by the book, oysters were small and didn’t taste like much - let alone the ocean.

We did not have a positive experience.

First, the restaurant was near empty. The hostess was polite enough and seated us. Our server came over to take drink orders but two of our party were in the bathroom. He took two orders and then when they came back from the bathroom, the server was no where to be found.

We then waited 15 minutes. I know this because after about 8 minutes, we were taking wagers on when our server might show up again.

At 15 minutes, I decided to go ask the hostess to have someone bring us a bill to pay for the two drinks, because we were leaving. Before I could even finish my sentence, Malcolm, another server, stepped in and said “I’m so sorry, let me take care of you”. He walked back to our table, took drink orders as well as our appetizer and entree orders. He also made suggestions along the way, which is what I expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Malcolm put our orders in. And then came back to refill the water carafe. The manager, Julio, came to apologize and said he was giving us two additional appetizers as an apology. Malcolm came back to deliver the additional apps.

Our appetizers came and the food, especially the oysters (we ordered a dozen) were excellent. Malcolm then informed us he was leaving for the day, and in fact, was leaving when he stepped up. He introduced us to Charlie, who was our original server.

We finished our appetizers.

Charlie did not come back to refill the water carafe. No one came back for over 10 minutes after we finished our appetizers, to clear the table. No one came back to ask us if we wanted another round of cocktails. Which we did.

Finally, Charlie came back and cleared the table, making a comment that he liked to make a single trip. And stacked all the plates on the table in front of usC completely disrupting our conversation as we watched him clang and stack our dishes.

Kitchen staff eventually arrived with our entrees. No Charlie to be seen. I asked one of them to refill the water carafe. He did so.

I ordered the Togarashi crusted Yellowfin tuna. It was six slices of tuna for $36. Six chunks of tomato. That’s it. Nothing else. I’ve gotten more tuna from Nobu for less cost. I could have gotten a tuna sashimi appetizer at a mid level sushi place for $12.00. And the quality was on the level of Nobu. It was akin to grocery store sushi. My buddy got the surf and turf and the shrimp was rubbery and overcooked. My wife got the pea risotto with lobster and she said it was flavorless.

My buddy had to stand up to flag down Julio to bring us the wine list, since we still hadn’t gotten any other cocktails.

We finished our entrees, and still never saw Charlie. He finally came back to check in on us, and my wife asked him about the white wines. She advised what she normally gets but was unfamiliar with the whites on the wine list. Charlie then said “Let me know what you want, I’ll be back”. He made no suggestions so we stopped him as he was leaving the table, and my wife said ordered a canned cider, which Charlie brought immediately. And then he ran away.

Bus boys came to clear the table. Charlie never returned to offer us dessert.

After waiting, we saw Charlie talking to a woman, got his attention, and signaled him with the universal sign language to bring us the check. Which took him another 10 minutes. We considered leaving during that time.

We stayed and paid. I undertipped Charlie. I wish we still had Malcolm. Julio did his job, but I feel that this review must be written so management can be aware.

Spent my 49th birthday at the bar here. Had the risotto with lobster, oysters and cocktails. Charles waited on me and made sure my birthday meal was special. Thank you so much for the kindness and service.
