The food, everything we ordered was amazingly fresh and the sushi was the best I’ve ever had. Our server, Kate, was great too and every recommendation of her was so delicious, we loved everything about this place. Such a hidden gem.

Great menu, atmosphere, pricing, and service. The sushi was great and the mini-super bowl had a great balance of uni, toro, and caviar. We will be back back.

Very good food and for the value. From California and our prices for similar sushi would be much higher! Fish is fresh, had the hand rolls which were very good. My friend had the bento and the salmon was a bit dry but otherwise food was good! The sushi taco appetizer and sesame cucumbers were excellent!

Absolutely terrible, confusing menu. The waiters don’t listen—you have to repeat your order five times. The sushi is just okay; I’ve had better.

Entering through a small doorfront on Pearl St, my first impression was that Mikado was larger than expected on the inside. The layout offered different spaces of the restaurant for people to sit, including a mix of tables and booth like areas divided by greenery which made the space feel more cosy.

The service felt a bit uncoordinated at times. After waiting for a while, we had to flag down a server to take our order, and they brought the wrong dish during the meal, and the wrong table's check. To make up for the wait, they brought a complimentary edamame. However, the staff were nice and the guy on the water was very diligent about keeping our cups refilled.

We ordered the crispy rice, kaizen don, miso cod and Mikado deluxe set. The crispy rice trio topped with tuna, salmon and yellowtail was tasty but the rice cube was very large which made it hard to eat. The miso cod was nicely cooked and flakes apart on the plate, and melted in your mouth however the miso flavour was dominated by a heavy dollop of mustard on top of the fish. The kaizen don was my favourite, which had nicely sized pieces of salmon, tuna, cucumber, egg. The nigiri in the Mikado set was a small size compared to some of the other portions, but each bite was nicely seasoned. The sushi rolls at the end of the plate were watery.

We finished with a slice of Yuzu cheesecake to share.
