Best place in the neighborhood to eat:
Great economic plates with all natural good quality ingredients coming from Italy. Pilar and Bernardo, the owners, are always there with good vibes serving their amazing product 🫶🏼🧡
Small counter serve Italian spot in a local market with several vendors. You can tell the food is scratch and fresh. I normally don't go for Italian food bc I find it predicative, but this place wowed me. I liked that it is authentic with a twist. I snagged the turkey lasagna, a cookie, and brown orange lemonade. Everything was quite amazing. I would not miss this spot if you are in the area.
The Palermito is by far one the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. The owners were so friendly and you can see that they put so much love into making their food! I will certainly be back to try more amazing dishes.
Excellent! Had the signature turkey lasagna (which comes in a big portion) and a mini meatball sub.
The meatball sub was doused with rich tomato sauce and a delicious housemade meatball. Lasagna was crispy on the edge and very yummy.
This place is owned by two friendly Italians from Rome; will definitely be back for more wholesome and authentic Italian food.
Great Italian restaurant in a stall in the Essex marketplace. Nice people from Italy hand make all the food which is delicious. It can be hard to get a table in the eating area at times but otherwise highly recommend.
There was so much we wanted to try - so we can’t wait to return! We loved how fresh everything was and tasted. Everything was hot right off the stove, and the oat milk chocolate pudding was so good (and we aren’t pudding people!) we went with the chef’s suggestion of fresh berry compote. *always go with the Chef’s suggestion! The stall really cute with illustrations and lighting, the Chef spoke directly to us and has been very acclaimed for her cuisine. We can’t wait to return to Essex Market for Mille Nonne! 🍝🇮🇹
You can tell this little food stand, located inside the beautiful Essex Market, is a special spot as soon as you walk up. From the homeyness of the facade—decorated with lamps, personal photos, cute illustrations, and news articles about the owner— to the emphasis they put on using natural ingredients, and the aroma of humble Italian cooking welcoming you when you order. The gnocchi with tomato basil sauce was simple yet comforting. Additionally, their homemade vegan chocolate pudding was a rich and creamy surprise. They have a handful of other vegan options for plant-based Italian food lovers. While I was satisfied, I wonder if one other their other options would impress me more. Definitely recommend.
Great pasta spot in Essex market. They have lots of vegan sauces, and gluten free options. We got the turkey bolognese and meatballs with very fresh salad, very happy with our meal
I've gotten many things here. It's all super delicious. This is one food influencer Instagram post away from having a line all the time.
Loved the gnocchi! Great service too, everyone was super kind to us.

This place is superb! Very friendly owners with a unique approach on fantastic Italian dishes with some of the best quality ingredients you can find! Their menu specializes in options that are inherently healthy for you and that also cater to those of use with certain dietary restrictions. Highly highly recommend starting your market visit here.
Pilar and Bernardo are delightful to chat with and make you feel like family when you stop by. I had the vegetable lasagna and it was delicious and really filling. I would definitely eat there again!
I’ve been going to Millenonne for a while now, even if it’s on the opposite part of town for me, but it’s my favorite Italian take out spot in the city. I love the vegan and diary free options, super yummy! I love the homemade gnocchi with pesto and the signature meatballs, so tasty and so light! The passion is all there and comes from the magic hands of chef Pilar feom Roma. Bravi!! (Also great Lasagna!)
Though listed on HC as a restaurant, this is really a food stall within the Essex Market. There are a bunch of places in the Essex Market that offer one or two vegan items--the standout is the all-vegan Rebel Cheese stall. Mille Nonne, although not all vegan, does offer a nice selection of clearly marked vegan items. You buy your wares at the counter to take out, though you can also eat at one of the tables located on the second floor of the Essex Market. The food here seems quite down-to-earth. I had an eggplant hero, which was quite nice, with natural ingredients, nothing processed.
100% authentic, freshly made, Italian food - can never go wrong, must try! The owners also have a great mission, making food with zero waste, offering innovative recipes (including vegan) and bringing quality in Italian takeout food, which is hard to come by. Absolutely recommend - a fellow Italian.
