Took my family to The Lounge at Mandarin Oriental New York on a crisp fall day, and it instantly became one of our favorite Manhattan memories. We were lucky enough to snag a window table on the 35th floor overlooking Central Park. My kids kept saying, “Are we really this high up? This is so cool!” The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. The food was outstanding with beautiful presentation. The scones were warm and feather-light, the finger sandwiches were generous and fresh, and the pastries were works of art. Yes, it’s a splurge, but every bite and every minute gazing out at that iconic view felt absolutely worth it.
We had an unforgettable afternoon, already planning our next visit—maybe for the holiday season when the park is dusted with snow. If you’re looking for a luxurious, joyful afternoon in New York with phenomenal service and a view that will take your breath away, book a table here. You won’t regret it.
Highly, highly recommend! We’ll be back soon.

***Update: refund received.
The service here was disappointing for the price. Afternoon tea is $130 per person, so we expected a relaxed and attentive experience. Instead, our server, Kai, repeatedly came to our table asking if we wanted a to-go box while we were still eating and clearly not finished. It felt rushed and intrusive.
Additionally, the check already included an 18% gratuity but this was not labeled anywhere. We unknowingly added an additional tip, and Kai saw the signed receipt with the extra tip and did not disclose that gratuity had already been included. It felt misleading, especially given how quickly we were hurried out.
Only afterward did we realize why our $130 tea ended up close to $200 per person. The food itself was just okay, though the view is beautiful.
Given the lack of transparency around the included gratuity, I do expect to have the additional tip refunded for our table. Please help resolve this. Thank you

Be aware that they add an 18% service charge to the bill without notifying you.The worst part is that the waiter who saw the bill did not tell us a tips was added. It’s outright dishonest. Make sure to review your check closely and don’t assume everything is disclosed. In my opinion, it’s disappointing and unprofessional for an establishment like Mo Lounge.

Reserved a table weeks out and they said the window seats were on a first come basis.
We then got there and they said they were reserved but if someone gets up we can take their seat. Many people left and we asked for multiple tables but they wouldn’t give it to us, also laughed when we asked for them.
Didn’t get any service for the first ten minutes when we sat down.
Clearly because we are younger kids (18 - 21) they didn’t want to waste their good tables on us, disappointed.

This is just a very overpriced “hotel” restaurant, with mediocre food, a complete lack of coordination between the kitchen and the (disappearing) service staff, and lots of managers standing around. We got our main twenty minutes before the appetizer and it got worse from there. The atmosphere is upscale Marriott, especially the chairs. The hamachi was decent but the shrimp bland and the chicken katsu very thin.

I had the opportunity to dine already two times at the MO lounge. Everyone - specifically Sam - was very welcoming and made sure we got a seat right at the window to enjoy the most wonderful view of NYC. The MO has nailed their desserts - the apple tarte is a must try!!

I want to preface that my girlfriend and I had a wonderful time here. We went for only the afternoon tea with Champaign and one coffee. Views are amazing, as were the desserts. I think it's a great place for a date.
But we had three main issues that, normally, wouldn't matter. But considering the bill was over 400$; the small details matter.
Firstly while all the workers were nice, our server did not go through the short list of teas with us. They have a unique selection so I feel at least a quick run through would have been helpful.
The Champaign came before anything else and one of the glasses had red jam of sorts on the bottom and water stains on the rim. No compensation for giving us such an obviously dirty glass.
Lastly the plates that all the small plates were extremely scratched. And I don't mean a few scratches. They were clearly dinner service plates that were very well used. It made for a very unsightly presentation.
If I had to say a negative in the food - the pistachio creampuff was overfilled. So much cream, too little puff. And the black truffle egg had a bit too much truffle taste.
Our seat was also in a corner where our view was of a building, rather than the park. That was disappointing.
Everything tasted great, the seats were comfy, and server was attentive, but only after we showed them the dirty glass.
If the experience were cheaper I wouldn't care about any of these issues. But at the price I paid I feel that the MO Lounge doesn't fully meet the expectation I had for it.
Also - we marked the occasion as a birthday (the page specifically asks if it's a birthday) in our reservation but did not receive any acknowledgement at all about it being my girlfriends birthday. Again normally I wouldn't mind, but at the price point and the fact that their page ask, I did expect something special for the occasion.
Great for tourist and great for a date, but I don't see a need to visit again.
I do want to thank the manager - he replaced our glass and offered to take photos of us as well. He seemed to enjoy his job.

The Hosts at this lounge was very rude and obnoxious. My wife and I came to see the hotel and possibly stay for our next visit and the attitude from her screamed stay away. Disgusting the way they treat someone who walks in for a drink and snack. Shane on you and your staff.

The best thing about this place was hands down the view and the atmosphere. We went for afternoon tea and the food was delicious although slightly overpriced. Our main issue with this place was the service. When I made the reservation I specifically mentioned it was our anniversary and I’d appreciate a window table. They said it would depend on what was available when we got there since you couldn’t reserve a window table, which was fair. While there, two window tables opened and they refused to seat us over there proceeding to seat other couples that arrived after us. It then took them over 20 minutes to come even give us menus. The wait for everything was extremely long and the service was very poor.

My partner and I had such a special afternoon here—the cappuccino, desserts, and views of the park are impossible to beat. Our server Teresa and managers Sam and Katherine made our visit so memorable. They were able to accommodate us short notice on a busy Monday and made us feel welcome. The thoughtful, personalized touches and friendly, knowledgable service will keep us coming back! Can’t recommend this place enough.

We found the space and views to be very nice. But the atmosphere was loud, hard to converse, loud pop music, not the vibe we were expecting at all. Service was good, not 5-star but very good, attentive. Tea was plentiful. Food was a mixed bag. Scones were outstanding, but given just a tiny bit of clotted cream and jam for four people to have with two scones each. We should have each had a clotted cream and a jam. The sandwiches were good, but had been sitting out, the bread on the end ones was not soft and fresh, but in the middle ones where air not getting to them, it was soft on the sides. The desserts ranged from very good for lychee and strawberry to ok for a cake that I believe was almond flavored. The pistachio one was good, but did not taste like pistachios. All in all, mostly enjoyable, but was expecting close to perfection at that price point ($130 pp).
