Old school red sauce joint. It's very solid. The interior takes you back to what restaurants looked like 50 years ago. Waiters are classic old time NY waiters. An excellent place to experience real NYC.
I wish that I could give 6 stars. Pasta that will make you weep (strozzapretti), off the hook chicken bolognese, a ricotta cheesecake like no other (so creamy), and a terrific house montepulciano to accompany it. Monte's is a privilege.
Monte's Trattoria was a revelation. The friendly atmosphere, sophisticated ambience and high quality Italian food drew rave reviews from every member of our party of eight people.
