Wow,you have to try this place. The flavors are on another level.

I made a reservation on Resy for 5:30 PM on a Wednesday, and the experience was incredible from start to finish. The space is small and cozy, with an intimate setting—just six guests seated at the bar right in front of the chef, which made the whole evening feel really special.

Everything we tried was amazing, but the standout for me was the smoked hamachi (Japanese amberjack). The flavors were so complex—honestly unlike anything I’ve ever had. I wish they sold that sauce because I would put it on everything.

My second favorite was the kani (crab) hand roll with truffle aioli and potato crisps. The sweetness of the crab paired with the richness of the truffle and the crunch from the crisps was just perfect.

What really elevated the experience was the chef—he walked us through each dish, explaining how the fish was prepared and what went into the sauces, which made it even more memorable.

I would absolutely come back again—no doubt about it. 10/10, highly recommend!

One of the best omakases I have had so far. So peaceful to dine in and loved how the chef makes everything in front of you. Each piece was unique and so tasty and highly recommend stopping by.

Omakase was very good, but there was little interaction with the chef or discussion about the food. More of a quiet continuous meal than an experience.

I’ve been to more than a dozen omakase restaurants in NYC, all ranging in price, and this is by far my favorite. I’ve been here 3 times already. They are consistently great! Great quality. Great atmosphere. Great service. Nothing compares!

The absolute best Omakase I’ve ever had. One of the top 3 restaurant experiences of my life. The quality of ingredients and the balance and care put into the dishes is insane. 1000% recommend. This place is on another level.

It is different, sure, and the service was good. Maybe it was the day I went, but some dishes were too tart, too sweet, or too overpowered by truffle, when fresh seafood needs to shine the most in omakase experience. Also, presentation left a lot to be desired. Wouldn't return.

Each course was unbelievable. The flavor was incredible and the fish was fresh. Plus the service was great. I’ve been to many omakase spots in NYC and this is my top.

Amazing experience. Chef was incredible and food was outstanding.

My fault, I should have realised when looking at the menu. This is not Japanese cuisine. The atmosphere was poor, the food was far too American to call itself Japanese and the service was lousy. For the price, go somewhere else!

Mori is one of those rare Manhattan sushi restaurants that understands discretion, discipline, and consistency—qualities that never go out of style. It is not a place for theatrics or trend-chasing, but rather for those who appreciate tradition executed with quiet confidence.

The atmosphere is calm and refined, allowing the focus to remain on the food and the company. Service is polished and attentive without being intrusive, conducted with the kind of professionalism that makes one feel immediately at ease.

The sushi is exceptional: impeccably fresh fish, expertly cut, and paired with rice that is balanced and precise. Each piece feels intentional, never excessive, and always respectful of the ingredients. There is a reassuring steadiness to the experience—nothing rushed, nothing overlooked.

Mori is the sort of establishment one returns to for years, brings trusted friends to, and recommends sparingly. In a city crowded with sushi counters, it stands apart through its restraint and reliability.

A true classic. Five stars, without hesitation.

Lovely experience. Perfect amount of food - with each dish tasting amazing and unique from the next. Great service as well. Highly recommend. Got most of the omakase dishes in the attached photos but missed 2 or 3.

Loved the dining experience here. The host kindly accommodated my seating request, and I got a seat right in front of the chef, watching him prepare each dish was such a treat. The appetizers were incredibly creative; my favorite was the oyster topped with yuzu foam. The pale pink color was a total delight 🌸🦪. Every appetizer was beautifully presented yet delicious. Light, refreshing, and very much their signature style.
The nigiri were solid, and the 16-course menu was just the right amount to leave me comfortably full. The chef and servers were welcoming throughout, always checking in with warm smiles. Definitely worth trying.

I would be lying if I said I was disappointed. The atmosphere and layout of the dining area was not bad. No frills, no thrills, simple and clean, with warm ambient lighting. Service was good, but nothing to write home about. The food was very disappointing. Appetizers were pre-prepared, which in all the Omakase restaurants i’ve eaten, this was the first time. I arrived at 7:10 for a 7:30 dinner and most of the appetizers were already placed on the chefs table waiting to be served. The flavors were good, but out of balance in my opinion. The oyster and ceviche were tasteful, but the acidity was too much and threw the dishes off. The Otoro with caviar was good, but the toast was cold and had been sitting on a tray where the cups and plates were shelved for 45 minutes prior to being served. I mean c’mon… this is your signature dish. Nigiri was disappointing as well. ALL the fish was pre-cut and placed in a metal box. I have NEVER seen pre-prepared nigiri pieces at a restaurant charging $100+. I didn’t even see the fillets where the fish came from, they were all already sliced into nigiri portions. Who does that?
The sushi rice was unremarkable and I wasn’t even sure if they used vinegar. The rice came directly from a rice cooker and seemed like just plain white rice. Hand rolls were good but nothing to write home about. The dessert was good but it’s literally an 1x1 inch bite, where the base pastry was too hard. Base was some sort of cookie with orange bits, and the candied sesame was a nice touch.

TDLR: Food extremely underwhelming for price. Most of the food was prepared, pre-cut, and sitting out prior to service.
