This place is coming up on bad days - the restaurant isn't as clean or shiny! The food is good but not up to par with its former self. Overall - worthy of takeout not dine in
Loved the place

The food at Moti Mahal is excellent! Every dish we ordered was tasty, well presented and delicious. The service is good. But we were the only customers, probably because during the week they have very good specials and its more expensive on weekends.
I brought my very discerning Indian in-laws here, and they LOVED it. That pretty much says it all.

Loved our meal here last night, great for a date night. Michelin guide recommended Spot in the UES serving up an authentic indian regional delights. Highly recommend for everyone looking to add a new Spot to their list for the fall. Must try are the lamb chops and their shrimp dishes, and the desserts

Finally made it to Motimahal Deluxe during my recent NYC trip, and it didn’t disappoint. We reserved ahead for a Friday night dinner, though it looked like a few walk-in tables were available.
The experience began with a classic touch—complimentary papad and chutneys, setting the tone for what felt like a North Indian meets Northwest Frontier culinary journey.
We kicked things off with their Golgappa Shots—a modern, upscale take on the beloved Indian street food. Four perfectly crisp puff pastries came with two types of flavorful pani (spicy mint and tangy tamarind). Pour, pop, and enjoy—flavorful, nostalgic, and fun.
Appetizers were standout:
✨ The Shilbatta Shami Kebab was a personal favorite—flawlessly spiced, tender, with a hint of smokiness from the grill.
🔥 The Tandoori Chicken delivered that ideal char without compromising juiciness. Both were impeccably executed.
For mains, we went with Aloo Kulcha and Rara Gosht. The mutton was melt-in-your-mouth tender and rich with flavor; the kulchas were soft, buttery, and addictive. The portions were generous—we ended up taking some home and skipped dessert (next time!).
If you’re a fan of robust North Indian flavors, Motimahal Deluxe is a must-visit. We didn’t try their signature Dal or Butter Chicken, but I’ve heard they’re cult favorites. They also offer a buffet (likely a solid weekday deal)—worth checking out.
Update: visited again, the service and the food were consistent. This time we tried their butter chicken, which was fine.

One of the best Indian restaurants in the US. Honestly, I was blown away by the food. Way better than expected.

Called to inquire about their thali’s. Very rude person picked up the phone had no interest to help us or answer any question. Hung up on us by saying thank you.

We order in a lot normally. Neither the food nor the ambience was worth going out on a Friday evening

We went for lunch and were so happy for a party of 6. The food was so tasty and you get so much food for the unlimited lunch specials . We will definitely come again!
THE best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to. The atmosphere is so cozy and welcoming and the service is great. Super clean. The food is beyond.

Nice ambiance. Helpful service. The food can be a hit and miss type of selection. The "famous" butter chicken and chicken tandoori is ordinary. The lamb chops were excellent. The okra salad was also very good. The meat dishes were heavily coated with the same type of coating which gives them flavor but also alter the taste of the meat itself. Overall, a place to revisit soon.
The menu and decor are nicely updated, the staff is so attentive, and the food gets better and better every time.
Well-prepared flavorful food. The website seems out of date, promising a veg and nonveg lunch special that was nowhere to be found.
