Mumtaz is easily the best Indian food I've had in New York. The madras sauce is spicy and delicious and everything else is great. A favorite of our family and all of our friends.
I have been going to Mumtaz for many years and I must say that whether I order the fish shagpiazi, chicken tandoori, or the shrimp tikka/masala, it is all so tasty and delicious. I'm just a bit surprised that considering the quality of the food and the more than reasonable cost, it's not more crowded than it is. Best lunch special on Upper East Side! Quality Indian fare. Generous portions at a very fair price. Warm and balanced seasoning leave pleasant aftertaste. Zesty accompaniments crown a fine meal.
