Exceptional quality of Japanese food. If you’re looking for high quality traditional Izakaya Japanese food with very good selection of sake, you are in the right place! The sake was transferred to another bottle that keeps the sake’s temperature cool throughout the dining experience. Every dish we ordered was perfect and super tasty and fresh. Portions are on pretty small side so recommend getting Katsu Sando that will fill you up! We sat next to the kitchen and bothered me a bit that the door kept opening and closing. Staff were very friendly and was packed on a Friday night so highly recommended to make a reservation
Great spot! It’s often busy so please make sure to make a reservation.
Horrible Resturant , very racist! Said I needed a reservation and the restaurant was half empty at 9pm . If your of non Asian descent they will turn you away !
Beautiful beautiful meal. The flavors and presentation of every dish were so thoughtful and perfect. The sake decanter 😭
We felt like we were really balling out and indulging but it was less than $100 a person for a really special celebratory meal.
Service wonderful as well.
Happy to know this place ❤️
Amazing late night casual Japanese food and snacks!
Ordered Oden (fish cake); konjak, deep fried fish cake, daikon and bean curd. They are warm and chewy.
Ordered potato salad. Portion was v small but taste was not bad.
Then ordered cold soba noodles w enoki mushrooms and a rice with cold broth with red snapper. They are both excellent. Could not believe most of the dishes are under 20 dollars.
Ordered an assortment of fried skewers. They are so delicious it disappeared in 3 mins. Loved the texture of fish roe popping in each bites. Shrimp skewer is so tasty. The eggs skewers were ok.

I called in advance to make a reservation, and mentioned that I wanted that special tuna bone.
I had such a limited time in New York and I made it a point to come here, but it seems like because there’s a misunderstanding on my reservation time group came during my reservation would be and they ended up getting the last tuna bone.
I don’t speak Japanese very well, but I am very upset that it seems the person who is taking reservations or is the hostess is not that fluent in English or just doesn’t listen or maybe just didn’t remember my requests?
The point is, It hurt seeing someone else eat the thing that I traveled thousands of miles to come and eat.
The funniest part is that I actually came early for my reservation by 30 minutes (45 minutes I guess, because they told me my reservation was for 7:45) and someone who was seated before me, ended up getting the last bone.
The hostess also seated a couple of Japanese guys before me even though I was standing there first for a good five minutes. This restaurant seems to hold very Japanese custom because this is also stuff that happens in Japan, but this is New York, not Japan.
I wish they would just honor things the way we do here as they would expect it if we went over there.
I’m really disappointed in my entire experience with this restaurant and their way of doing business.

I have been to the restaurant few times and the food is great. The staff are very unfriendly though !!! I was there with a friend with shellfish allergy and we order items that were neither fried nor contain any shellfish and the waiters refused to accommodate the allergy request being very rude to us even in stating that! They kept saying they use the same knives and cutting board for everything! Which is neither hygienic nor acceptable nor comply with regulations. I have been to Japan several times and never experienced an issue with shellfish allergy not accommodated even at sushi high end restaurants.

There’s one very rude waiter out there. He’ll ruin your whole experience.
This restaurant only accepts reservations by phone and does not allow walk in, which is not written anywhere on the websites. We also had an unpleasant experience with one of the waiters, who was dismissive when we asked about getting a table without a reservation. He just said “no” and walked away when we walked in. It’s a bummer as I was recommended this place from a friend. I would recommend other places in the city for a good Izakaya experience.
We were not greeted in the nicest way (we were told "this not just a bar, you have to eat" -- I know, I used to live around the corner, so I've been here before). After that, it was smooth sailing. Friendly bartender with a good sake recommendation. If you want the tuna on the bone (see photo), order it right away as they usually only have a few per night.

Please note: This restaurant only takes reservations by phone. This lack of transparency can be inconvenient. Additionally, one of the male waiters at this place was very rude and impatient. When my friend and I asked if we could get a table without a reservation, he just answered ‘no’ and tried to walk away without explaining the situation. Only when we asked another question did he check the waitlist for us. This made us feel disrespected. I doubt their service attitude matches the quality and price of their food. There are many places in New York with great service and food. If you want to have a pleasant date or experience, be cautious about choosing this place.
