A great find! Lovely re-imagined diner. Food was very good (we went for breakfast) and the service excellent. Evelyn looked after us wonderfully. I would definitely recommend.

Huge shout out to Rebecca! Incredible service and so friendly! Hope to see her again next time I visit!

Impeccable vibe; great decor, clean, classic 80s music playlist, and kind and attentive staff!

Selection of cocktails put a fun twist on classics without being difficult to understand. Food options have fresh sandwiches with an array of fillings and delicious entrees.

Had the hibiscus marg w/ mezcal. Fragrant and light smokiness, really refreshing. The Steak Frites was cooked really well despite some fatty pieces, crispy fries and great portion size. Salsa verde was slightly liquidy but still tasty.

Definitely recommend lunch here, bar seating is supreme.

Great late night spot.

Service was extremely quick and reliable. They left a jug of water on the table which I always prefer.

I recommend coming here.

i always like coming here after a movie, staff is always welcoming plus it’s a decent distance from central park so it’s nice to walk around after lunch or dinner

This place is a step into the past, unless you were assaulted, you should only be giving this place 5 stars.

Disappointing. The tuna salad on the melt was cold, the brioche bread was thick, buttered and sweet, and the cheese, slapped on the bread, was only partially melted. The worst tuna melt I’ve ever had. My friend had a lukewarm matzoh ball soup and the color was grey. Even the dessert was off. The neighborhood needs an affordable place but the food here is dismal.

Been coming for years. Mornings wouldn’t be the same without Kathy. Chef Raoul is amazing, the entire staff is wonderful and has worked together for years. Only green flags at this place.

This is my 2nd visit and I love the old school diner feel. My meal was good, I wasn't expecting the calamari preparation (it was okay, but not for me). My short ribs risotto was excellent. Will go back again.

Came to this diner this morning. My waitress was eating breakfast while she was on the job after she served me. Food came out 5 minutes after I ordered. They looked angry and not happy to serve you. She didn’t even ask me how was the food or if I was ok. Lastly I waited paitently for 20 minutes after I finished to ask me for a check before I said something. This place is garbage

Old John’s Luncheonette is such a classic New York gem. The moment you walk in, you get that cozy, old-school diner feel with a touch of modern charm. The menu has something for everyone whether you’re in the mood for a hearty breakfast, a burger, or a comfort-food favorite like the tuna melt (which is one of the best I’ve ever had).

The service is warm and friendly, and you can tell this place has a lot of history and love behind it. Everything feels homemade and done with care. It’s the kind of spot you can come to before a show at Lincoln Center, grab brunch with friends, or just enjoy a relaxed meal on your own. Definitely one of those neighborhood staples that makes New York special.

The difference between this and denny's is... actually not sure. It's pretty hit or miss. Not bad. Not too expensive. Not always good.
