We sat for ten minutes and had to ask for menus. Should have taken it as a sign that we should leave and eat elsewhere. The food was horrible. The meatloaf had a gravy that was flavorless and watered down. I was served mashed potatoes that tasted like they were mashed in the water they were boiled in - lumpy, thin, and watery. We were very disappointed by this meal. I wish better for this place. I liked it a lot before the pandemic. That the meal cost us so much money - we had steak, meatloaf, turkey sandwich, and short rib with two appetizers, no alcohol, and the check was 180 - with the tip that we regretted paying. Worse than the meal was the regret for ever bringing my family to this place.

Overpriced/overrated for the smallest portions and terrible service.

Delicious food and very nice service from Rebecca. I had a party of 6, with some vegetarians, and someone who had to eat something gentle on the stomach. We sat at the bar and our server, Rebecca, was super nice, attentive, bilingual (which was helpful for our group), and gave great food recommendations.
I ordered the braised short rib 5/5 would order again in a heartbeat, especially for the price. Comes with brasato sauce a lemon vinaigrette, perfect for cutting the richness. Some of our party ordered veggie burgers, others ordered chicken noodle soup. I also ordered a mocha.
Definitely eat here if you’re in the area and in the mood for comfort food this winter!

Excellent diner style food (except for the dessert posted- strawberry shortcake had a super hard biscuit). Their Dark Chocolate Ice Cream is a MUST have. Make reservations to avoid a wait time.

This place is a wonderful diner! 🍴 Old John's Luncheonette on the UWS 🗽 serves a great selection of delicious 🤤 soups 🍲 , sandwiches 🥪, breakfast 🍳 dishes 🍽️, drinks 🥤, and more! Definitely get the Crispy Chicken 🐔 Sandwich with a cup of Chicken 🍗 Noodle 🍜 Soup! Staff 👨🍳 is friendly and professional and the service is quick. ⏲️ Ambience 🎶 is great and the place is beautifully decorated! 🛋️ I wish I knew about this place sooner!

Would not be surprised if this is the best diner you can find in NYC. Great staff, and sooooo appreciate the mexican twist on the dishes! Love love love. Were here two mornings in a row because we couldn't get enough!

Disappointed, as I’ve heard great things. Ordered luncheonette classics: a tuna melt with fries and a black and white malted. The cheese on the tuna melt wasn’t melted (really losing the dish’s charm). I watched my black and white sit on the counter for almost ten minutes before it was given to me, and it didn’t taste like it had any malt in it. The fries came with one small cup of ketchup and though I asked for more it never came. And with tip I paid $36 for the pleasure…

This is a cozy diner always bustling with local residents. If you're unlucky, you might have to wait 20-30 minutes for a table.
Overall, the food is delicious, and despite the busy atmosphere, the staff is remarkably friendly. Portions are quite large, so overordering might lead to regret. However, make sure to save room for dessert—banana pudding and carrot cake are highly recommended and absolutely delightful!

I liked the place, it gets very crowded before shows start at the Lincoln Center. There was even a delay in the kitchen. The food was very good, crispy fries, good meat and a nice server. Only 4 stars because they overfill the restaurant, we have the smallest table, not fitting two plates and two drinks and was right next to the queue of people waiting to get in...

Awesome place! Like an old school UWS diner but with great cocktails and jazz playing on the speakers. Service was kind and attentive. Had a martini with blue cheese olives, burger, and fries. Everything was excellent. I'll be back again (and again).

Really enjoyed the veggie burger! And Manhattan. Great destination for a pre-Lincoln Center show. I will definitely be back!
