This was my first omakase experience so I do not have much to compare but I had a great experience and each bite was full of flavor and tasted really good !

This is a very basic, no-thrill omakase joint. For it to charge $95 for an omakase meal of 11 pieces, I was rather underwhelmed and disappointed by the quality of its ingredients and preparation. There are many other restaurants in the city that offer much better and more reasonably priced omakase.

Sushi Dairo was suggested to me by a close Japanese Friend living in NYC. I was looking for authentic Japanese and I definitely got it...

From the staff and chef speaking fluent Japanese to the authentic Japanese omakase experience.

It definitely satisfied my craving for authentic Japanese when it was very hard to find a place that is authentic Japanese.

Chef Meguro'san was amazing and personable...

A must place to go :)

A Hidden Gem That Treats You Like Family.
If you’re looking for budget-friendly omakase in NYC that doesn’t compromise on quality or care, this is the place. I’ve been coming here for a while now, and it’s more than just the fish that keeps me coming back—it’s the people.
The fish is always fresh. You won’t find gimmicks or over-the-top theatrics here—just honest, skillful sushi that hits all the right notes. It’s the kind of place where the chef might hand you a piece and say, “This one’s just how you like it”—and it always is.
My little sushi sanctuary.Thank you!

Really fresh authentic sushi. The atmosphere could be a little more curated but that aside the food is great!

If you like Japanese food this it a must try. Small bright location and the sashimi amazing. I’m using it as a business lunch spot because the food is excellent and it’s close to Union Square.

The worst Omakase I’ve ever had in my life.

We went with the sushi dinner set for $160. The first course was miso soup, which I usually love, but this one was about three times saltier. The first appetizer tasted like canned tuna cat food. The sashimi was objectively mid one after the other. The best part was the uni, the uni was incredible. The hand roll was disappointing.

The green tea ice cream was great, and I doubt they made that in house.

there are so many good Omakase places in the city and I really regret coming to this one.

I was excited to try a new omakase place in the area and I had a friend in town who also enjoys omakase, however the experience was just mediocre. I really enjoy small plates as part of the omakase experience but some of the flavor combinations missed the mark for me. The fish itself was good and fresh so I think next time I would just go a la cart and order the sushi platters.

The best seat in Manhattan is at the counter eating the most exquisite pieces of sushi. We could not love Dairo more and look forward to every night we can spend there

A Non pretentious environment that focuses on the spiritual connection between food and the soul. Great Omakase without the fancy lighting, and fanfare
