Omen Azen is my favorite Japanese restaurant in New York! The food is fantastic—fresh, seasonal, and absolutely original and authentic. Udons, dashi, sea food pot, crispy tuna salad sooo good! Beyond the incredible cuisine, the staff is friendly, always helpful, and welcoming. Great atmosphere!
Omen Azen has been around for a long time, and hopefully it will be there for much longer. I routinely bring visiting friends here, and without fail, we always leave with big smiles on our faces—a consistently high-caliber experience. Pro tip: Try the sake from the wooden box!
Heads up: They only accept Cash or American Express.

Had reservation yet waited over an hour. Wait staff took forever before they took my order. Then they brought me the wrong order. Food was ok at best. Will not be going back

Good value, not too much (for NYC)

I don’t mind waiting for a table when the restaurant is busy—what I do mind is watching a couple stroll in after us and get seated at our table while we stood there for ten minutes, ignored. To make matters worse, a well-known actor behind us eventually left in frustration.

It wasn’t about the wait; it was the blatant favoritism and the staff’s complete lack of professionalism. A place that prides itself on hospitality should understand that every guest deserves respect, not just the ones they choose to favor.

The food might be good—I’ll never know. We walked out, and I won’t be back. There are too many restaurants in this city that know how to treat people properly.

the food was fine but the service was actually close to the worst thing i’ve had. i think it was just our waitress tbh, everyone else seemed like they were hustling. we had to ask so many times to even get water refills, the food took foreverrrr, and getting the check even took ages and a lot of attempts to get her attention.

apparently it’s cash only which we did not know about. idk if the waiter even knew that bc she literally picked up our check with the card only to come back to tell us no card (other than amex)???

great vibes though

We so much enjoyed this evening dining here. Authentic japanese cuisine, not from the usual mold. A traditional Asian vibe with Eastern seasoning. Very satisfying After each appetizer and following the entree. Extraordinary. Respectful and efficient service. We shall return.

Be aware! Only American Express card is accepted or Cash! What a shame! Who would have those two uncommon payment nowadays???

Coming here base on review only was told at the door about the payment! Inconvenient and ridiculous!

This is a quiet little Japanese restaurant tucked away like the little hidden gem it is!We were a group of 6 celebrating a birthday and this meal ticked all the boxes! We ate family style and had the tuna tartare, sashimi platters, the cod fish -which truly melted in your mouth it was so delicious and the steak that was perfectly seasoned and tender. You can tell the sushi was fresh as well!Server was attentive but not standing over us and when we had the ice cream for dessert, they brought it over with a candle on it!I would absolutely recommend for a small group of a lovely intimate dinner date.
