most amazing whiskey bar in new york. a storied enclave for the whiskey elite, connoisseur and fan alike. great personality, the deepest selection.
It's notorious. It's world renowned. There are bottles that exist in this bar that might not exist anywhere else in the world.
Coming from Florida I was having a tough time finding somewhere in the Manhattan area that was a low key place with a great bourbon selection. I stumbled upon On the Rocks and very glad I did. I was fortunate enough to meet the owner, Howard who was very generous and gave me a pour of my all time favorite. They had a great selection and I had a couple pours of some really good bourbon. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and engage in conversation and share their thoughts and insights. A fantastic place and I will definitely be back on my next trip.
Cool place…location can’t beat it on the Harbour. Staff was super nice.. music piano man great ..could play all the classics. Will be going back tomorrow night.
It's rare to find a whisky selection this expansive and the bartenders are very knowledgeable.
Fantastic selection of whiskeys and incredibly knowledgeable stuff. We had a lovely evening here and they were really nice.
It's a cute atmosphere. One of the bartenders is very excited about the whiskey and tells you a lot about it, but the other bartender (unfortunately the guy we got) was just on his phone 70% of the time. We stopped by here hoping there may be some specialty whisky cocktails, but as it turns out it stays deeply true to its name and is all straight whiskey or whiskey on the rocks. I would have also liked to be offered whiskey stones but it's only ice cubes.
There is a great selection of whiskey but the pricing model isn't appealing. Even some of the lower tier whiskeys are $20 a shot in a glass on the rocks. It's a mixed experience, I think there's a lot of opportunities for improvements here. I think a good start would be having a serious conversation with the problematic bartender.
Patrick and this cozy establishment have the coziest place for you to sip. Whether keeping to yourself, drinking a standard pour or being adventurous, making magic in a regular driven and friendly environment. Whiskey is just the vehicle to something better between people. And this place is a beautiful delivery of that.
Bartender was condescending and mean for legitimately no reason, baffled me
Great little bar in Hell’s Kitchen. It’s an all whiskey bar with great collection. A little high priced but worth the experience if you are a whiskey lover.

The owner sits in the corner and yells at the bar staff
This establishment is a truly exceptional whiskey lounge. The staff behind the bar are dedicated to providing personalized service, patiently guiding patrons to discover a spirit that aligns with their individual preferences. While the cost may be somewhat elevated, the overall experience is undeniably worthwhile.
Walked in with friends and the bartender killed the vibe immediately. Will not go there ever again.
What an experience! We sampled some mind-blowing and rare drinks, and Patrick took us through a masterclass on everything from distilling to ingredient biology to industry politics. I don't know whether I loved the drinks or the experience more, I recommend them both!
One of the most expansive whiskey lists I have ever seen, excellent selection + quality. Like most reviews have mentioned though, the bartenders kill the experience for the worst. One of the bartenders (black male) is always rude/behaves quite condescending when a question is asked + just unpleasant to be around to get a a drink. I hope OTR can fix this issue
