One of the very best bakeries in the city. I go for the Rye and challah loaves of bread, as well as the many delicious pastries. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and they listen carefully.
Vegetarian options: It's a bakery, so there are many non-meat offerings.
Parking: Good luck.

Their baked goods are amazing and I’ve been going here for years, but their staff has accidentally overcharged me a few too many times for my liking. The Sunday surprise cookie, morning roll, sticky bun, California bagel sandwich, and chocolate chip scone keep me going there.

First, I will post pictures in another post because I already started eating 🙂
Staff is friendly, helpful, and kind.
Breads are incredible. We get the pumpernickel every 2 weeks and the challah loaf for fun.
Pastries are fantastic. Croissants, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and the chocolate shell stuffed donuts (we do raspberry jelly but all are amazing) are musts.
Bagels are 10/10 and so are the bialys if you’re into that. Can’t recommend a local bakery more than Orwasher’s.
Here’s the pumpernickel packed for home!

Firstly, they have friendly service and a decent selection of breads and pastries.
We bought a full loaf of pumpernickel, which was $12+, and oatmeal raisin cookie at $4.50, and a lemon pound cake slice for $4.
Bread - decent tasting but lacking rich flavour like other bakeries. Also a full loaf is small making this very expensive. Was not super soft.
Cookie - I enjoyed this as it wasn’t too sweet. Rustic style. More raisins would help.
Lemon Cake - Possibly one of the least desirable lemon cakes I’ve had. Dense, dry, sour. I did not finish it.
Good service but their bakes are not for me.
Edit: The business was receptive enough of the feedback that I will give them another shot when in the area. Thanks.

Ordered NY Breakfast and they forgot my salmon. I just bagel and cc. Also the lady at the front is not friendly at all; very dismissive attitude. Bagels are good though

I've been a customer since college and I'm in my 60's.
Always great service, quality and prompt attention to detail.
Vegetarian options: It's a bakery so very few items have animal products in their dough.

Orwashers is a neighborhood staple! Been around since 1916, my mom actually worked there when she was a teenager. Definitely get some bread and donuts for sure as well as well as focaccia, you cannot go wrong. The sourdough and raisin pumpernickel are my favorites - and the jelly donuts are top tier (cherry apricot is my fave) as you can see they are not shy about the jelly & it’s delicious!

We didn't like it, the bread was BAD, the staff had no interest in serving us. The person who served us after taking money from another customer with gloves took our bread and put it in the bag without the slightest care. At least use a tongs. The sensible thing to do would be to change gloves. Disrespectful to the customer, dirty place. I don't recommend it to anyone. There are several better and more hygienic places with great service in the area. This place is not worth it at all. Horrible experience.

Orwashers for the win, always. The morning buns, a kouign amann x cinnamon bun hybrid, are outstanding. And the breads are just what you’d expect from a local bakery still going strong with literally more than 100 years of experience. The rye, Chardonnay miche, everything, superb.
