In a place like Manhattan where every inch of land is worth a lot of money, this price is really very cheap. And the service attitude is also very good

I recently enjoyed a wonderful morning at Ost, a favorite spot of mine from my days in the Lower East Side. Coming back from Denver was like a warm homecoming. David's presence added greatly to the ambiance, and I deeply appreciated his friendliness. I'm eagerly looking forward to my next visit to revisit those cherished memories.

For anyone in search of a place to work, unwind, or simply enjoy an excellent cup of coffee, I highly recommend this spot.

Of course! Misunderstandings sometimes occur when baristas or staff make comments or jokes, especially with background noise or distractions. Clearing up these situations can help avoid any potential awkward moments. If you feel comfortable, you could mention it to the barista next time you visit; they might appreciate knowing how their remark was received.

The aroma of the coffee is good. I had a chat with the guy of Russian origins about coffee machines (they use La Marzocco) and the importance of roasting and quality of the beans. The homemade pastas from Eastern Europe are excellent and soft and the cappuccino fits the bill.
Prices are a little lower than average.
Come to the East or the East, in short, come here to write and think.

Ost Café is such a gift to this neighborhood. Great coffee and excellent pastries. (Try the scones and cookies, yum) But what truly makes the experience is the casual and friendly atmosphere. It’s a gathering place for neighbors and a place for us to meet and make new friends. A gem. Take a breath and be patient, it’s not Starbucks, there are only 1 or 2 employees, relax and enjoy the old-school vibe and the music. The culture here is to smile and say “hi.”

The cozy brick design, wood floor and seemingly delicious looking pastries give one the impression this place would be a great Coffee Shop. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I ordered a cappuccino. It was made with a blend of at least two or three different coffees, failed to have any froth, and was served moderately hot. Sorry, but I would never recommend this place to anyone who knows anything about coffee and wants to enjoy a good one.

Limited pastry menu (at least based on what I've seen after noon) but honestly you go for the coffee and the people watching.

If you want a laid back vibe with a killer soundtrack (complete with staff sing-alongs) and delicious homemade baked goods (Nick is very generous with his delicious glaze) then this is the place for you. It's our little Lower East Side gem of a coffee shop where everybody knows your name and the neighborhood gossip. Staff is always welcoming and if you are a regular you will never need to repeat your order cause they will remember it.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! The coffee and pastries are great, the atmosphere is perfect for chatting with a friend or working quietly, and the best thing for me is the staff. No matter which barista I get, they all have a great energy and really make the place feel like a community.Shout out to David on the afternoon shift for always being super friendly and to my favorite crooner in the AM, Nick, who always makes me smile when he’s wailing on a Prince song first thing in the morning. Truly makes my day :D

I used to go here a lot but recently I think I have to change spots. Ok coffee, patronizing baristas time and time again. If you want to spend $6 to be treated badly, definitely go here!

Really friendly barista, super nice and greeted us immediately. Had an iced latte with regular milk and really liked it. Lately lots of cafes in NYC have been brewing either really burnt or too acidic coffees. Not Ost Cafe - could tell they used great beans, and the roast was just right. Coffee was strong but not bitter, you could tell you were drinking coffee, not a milk latte. Glad I finally stopped by to try it out. Not a ton of tables inside, but wasn’t too busy on a Saturday morning.

The barista was very nice. But the caramel cold brew I ordered was one of the worst I’ve ever had. It tasted like watered down cold coffee, no caramel flavor, had to throw it out. Very disappointing.
