Everything about our meal was fabulous! I recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in a warm atmosphere.
I had not been to Paola's since I was in my 20's and they were on East 85th St. I returned ystrdy w/ husband and 3 grown boys, it was heave. The food was as good as it was 25 yrs ago, and not a drop of charm has been lost in the new location. I am thrilled we found it again and will certainly be back. Thank you for making our night. It was truly special!!
What a delightful experience. Arrived very early due to the event ending sooner than expected and management was most accommodating. Small place, comfortable with space between the tables. Bread, water and menu's arrived quickly. Wait staff was knowledgeable of both the menu and the specials. Drinks arrived quickly, the appetizer was excellent, steamed mussels in a white wine sauce mixed with beans. We split two specials, the home made eggplant along with a grilled octopus over risotto. While the portions were not large, the meal was filling. Refills and requests came quickly and for desert, a home made tartufo hit the spot. Will definitely be going back.
Because of the small footprint, it was quite cramped while we waited about 10 minutes for our table. But it was well worth the wait. The food was fantastic, the service was great and we were offered drinks (which we declined) to compensate for the short wait.
A beautiful little room, like an dining car on the Orient Express. The kitchen really seems to have upped its game since it reopened. The Melanzane Pamengiana is perhaps the best version I've ever had of this simple, but hard to do right dish. Not cheap, but the combination of food, warm service and ambience is worth it.
For the entire 12 years we lived in NYC, Orso was our favorite Italian restaurant. However, last week's dinner was very disappointing. Our appetizer of mozzarella, peppers, and tomatoes was as delicious as ever. My husband's eggplant parmesan was good, but for $34 should have included a side of pasta. Past menus included shrimp with a delicious corn relish. This dish is no longer on the menu. Instead, the offering is linguini with shrimp and zucchini, which is not as good. We were sad to see these changes.

This is one of my neighborhood restaurants but after last night it lost me for good. I’m not sure what happened but my friend and I shared an appetizer of artichokes which were delicious after we added salt. The pasta we split - bucatini all’Amatriciana was too salty, too overloaded with large cubes of pancetta and was completely forgettable. We ordered this after asking if the chef made the Cacio d’ Pepe in the original Roman way (assumed they would) but no, the chef adds cream instead of making it without cream and allowing the cheese to mix with the pasta water to make the cream. Anyway, it was an expensive Americanized Italian meal. Not what we were looking for -

An old favorite on the UES serves food tasting like its out of a Grandma's kitchen. Served by kind, thoughtful servers. The ambiance warm and cozy especially on an October rainy night

Really, really enjoyed dinner. Service was perfect, ambiance very pleasing and food amazing! Would recommend anytime and also return.
If Paola's was in my neighborhood it would be my go-to neighborhood restaurant. The food is always delicious and the staff is lovely and attentive.
Truly marvelous restaurant. Food, Service and ambience. Eat here a couple times a month and highly recommend.
Amazing. Stefano was warm, food great as always. Feels like in this newer location a throwback to 85th street. Felt like home.
Top notch food. I just got back from Rome and was craving some real Roman style Italian food and Paola’s delivered. The duck argue was perfect. The zucchini blossoms stuffed with cheese were delicious. Loved the ambiance. Cozy dark wood, small tables but never felt cramped. Bonus Michael Pollin was sitting at the table next to me. Fun!
