We did not get any food but I’m sure it’s amazing. The service and atmosphere in this place is off the charts awesome. Kitty is the absolute best. We walked in without a reservation and they got us in right away and everyone was so helpful finding us a drink that we would like. Their menu is huge so that was a big help. This is a must stop for anyone that loves cool Polynesian bars, (they also talk about how they’re trying to build on the experience of tiki, and acknowledge that tiki is appropriated and they are trying to improve and pay homage to it). I love this place and will definitely be back very soon hopefully!Dietary restrictions: They have a super awesome “key” system to let you know of alcohol strength and different allergens in all cocktails and food.

A wonderful and unique NYC speakeasy experience! First of all...love the theme! Basically it's like a fun little tiki bar nestled at the center of the 9th circle of hell haha. The attention to detail is incredible - you'll even hear an interesting recording in the bathroom that adds to the atmosphere. The drinks were incredible and so unique. I got the bottomless pit and the seventh circle swizzle, both of which refreshing and yummy. And of course, the drinks themselves were very instagrammable. For instance the bottomless pit was smoking for about a solid 30 seconds, and my friend got a drink that was set on fire. The food was also so good. My friend and I got the musabi and the spudlets to share. The food was so interesting. The spudlets in particular were a wonderful mix of sweet and savory. As expected from a speakeasy, the entrance can be easy to miss and there is no clear sign. Just look for an interesting insignia and that would be the place to be. All in all, definitely a new favorite

Had fun there with some friends! This place is so cool. They have plenty of excellent cocktails. Great vibe inside. Nice setting and cool music. We also enjoyed some of the food. The staff were attentive and friendly. My friends and I had great time there and we talked a lot while our drinks.

NYC needed a place like Paradise Lost to scratch that Tiki itch while you are in the city! A welcome refreshed take on Tiki, Paradise Lost embraces the escapism and amazing cocktails that Tiki lovers search for. With an infusion of punk, metal, and some more devilish elements- you truly will be transported when entering PL.All the cocktails we sampled were top notch and the food was fantastic! Truly feel you can not go wrong with whatever you pick off the menu here. Staff knowledgeable, kind, and not afraid of some flames!Cannot wait to return!

Maybe the drinks are awesome per other reviews, but the staff (or at least the guy who came to the front at around 8pm on 03/17/24) are terrible. We came in from out of town to get dinner and see a show. I heard of this place before and really wanted to try it while we were in NYC cause I'm a big tiki fan, but we were turned away. Why? Not because they were full, not because we were drunk, or any other logical reason - it's because we were dressed in green... on St Patrick's Day. I get it, you want to keep bar hopping drunks out on a busy bar day, but we were sober people just being a bit festive coming from a show and dinner. At least lie and say you're full (they weren't because the people behind us apparently got in), not some stupid reason about wearing green. It's obviously a business's right to deny people entry for whatever, but if you're going to do it for such a silly, arbitrary reason, at least post your silly rule somewhere! Very, very disappointed after seeing the online hype. Guess we'll never attempt to give this place our money again, cause apparently they don't want it.

Okay, THIS is how you do Tiki. An almost speakeasy entrance, talk to the man in the booth and then down through a tropical hallway to a grass covered door. What could be behind this? So exciting to walk in the first time (for me) and watched a young woman actually dancing as she was walking to her super cool private dining/partying table with her 2 guests. Amazing painstaking details on their menu, down to strength of drink and whether dairy or nuts, etc, no detail left out other than actual measurements. Spectacular bar setting- so tropical but punk at the same time. Really proper Tiki vibe here- music was loud but why not if its punk. Wonder if there's a lounge music night or surfer music night? Bartenders super cool to chat with, all had a story about Tiki experiences in other parts of the country while they made some great drinks but they have nothing to be ashamed about here- this place meets all the Tiki markings one would expect. Dark, mysterious (some crazy spoken word thing going on in the bathroom, what was that?). Mai Tai- NAILED IT!, Pearl Diver? Kids stuff. OH, and try the Triple Stix- had the coconut shrimp with some devilish glaze, so good. First time here and I travel a lot but this easily found its way into my Tiki Top-Five after just one visit. Really can't find anything to keep me from coming back except for whatever trippy hoodoo voodoo reading that was being piped into the bathroom- felt like they were trying to borrow my soul while I peed, had to get out of there quick.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Working in the hospitality business, I'm more than disappointed, but I'm deeply offended by the treatment I was given. I came in with such positive hopes since I love tiki bars as well as fun experiences, but it was the polar opposite. Although the drinks were great. That was the only positive of my experience. My group was not only judged and discriminated, but also, treated so terribly, I was left in actual tears. They made me feel so uncomfortable as well as unwelcome from start to finish. To the people who don't want to feel like they aren't welcomed, I suggest not going to this establishment. Might I add that that we were wrongfully accused of being "intoxicated" to the point of getting asked to leave with having only ONE DRINK. I don't know how I was able to write a detailed message the night I was painfully judged if we were so intoxicated but I guess they needed a reason to make us leave based on their excuse of just not liking us. The feeling of being unwelcomed by the staff make us feel the need to voice the opinion for any future people who don't want to be wrongfully accused based on our appearance and categorizing us into a certain stereotype. Very sad and have no reason to go want to come back after knowing a bar like that can hire people who can do that to their patrons.

The ambiance and creativity of the cocktail menu and buildout is one of the best in the city. However, for an establishment that strives for the reputation, the standard is lackluster in meeting customer service expectations and making you feel integrated and welcome. Not only did the service operate at a glacial pace, but the entire staff was judgmental and rude and acted as if we didn't exist in the corner and were a burden to interact with. Came with high expectations after reading previous stellar reviews but experiencing this establishment first hand, we felt discriminated and unwelcome. Just wanted to warn others before falling into the same distasteful and hurtful experience as us.

What a fun place! There is a vast cocktail selection so there is something for everyone. They really commit to the tiki bar concept too - I will definitely be back.

From the moment you descend through the jungle walkway, you quickly realize this is not your typical tiki bar. For all the eye-widening decor and the regularly scheduled bar pounding tiki chants, the biggest star of this show is still the drinks. Yes, they may be premium priced, but they are masterfully well-crafted and pack quite the punch. The drink menu runs the gamut of offerings--you will find no less than three things you love. My favorites were the Surf Demon and the Blind Dragon. Plus, I highly recommend the popcorn. I'll be back as soon I'm back in the city. Can't wait. P.S. The audio they have in the bathrooms is creepy AF lol.

Drinks are amazing, drink menu is also extremely extensive. Loved the tater tots and the musubi! I definitely recommend and you won't regret going here, unless you don't like tiki bars with a twist.

Super amazing demonic psychobilly tiki bar! Can't wait to visit again. You showed up with a party twice as big as our reservation and the very professional and accommodating staff worked with us to figure out how to fit everybody in. Great service! Amazing rhum selection. If you are any kind of tiki fan, you must check it out.
