Passerine is one of those places you instantly want to tell your friends about. Elevated Indian flavors, beautifully done, but never fussy. Start with the small plates—hamachi crudo, roasted cauliflower, scallion uttapam—they’re creative and seriously delicious. Mains like the Naga pork belly or slow-roasted cabbage are rich, comforting, and full of depth. The cocktails are smart, the wine list is tight, and the whole place has that cozy-but-cool vibe
Southern Indian.
Half chicken was delicious.

This place is a gem. Spectacular food, wonderful service and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Amazing atmosphere and not a bad dish or cocktail. My friends and I loved this place. Highlight for me was the half chicken. Top notch service.
FABULOUS FOOD AND SERVICE
We had an absolutely incredible experience at Passerine. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance—elegant and intimate, yet vibrant and full of energy.
We did the tasting menu and were blown away. Every dish was thoughtful, beautifully presented, and bursting with bold, balanced flavors. Truly some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had—creative, refined, and deeply satisfying.
Passerine is a gem. If you’re in NYC and want a dining experience that’s both memorable and genuinely special, don’t miss it.
Fabulous tasting menu. Best dinner in NYC
Amazing experience! Highly recommend!
Tasting menu was amazing and the service was even better!
Everything was absolutely PERFECT. We did the 7-course non-vegetarian tasting menu, and it was divine. Every course. The cocktails were amazing, too. Check it out, try the tasting menu, and you won’t be disappointed. Guaranteed.

So disappointed with the food! Why spoil a simple reputed cuisine and try to something fancy? We ordered the potato dumplings, uthapam and the potatoes in both tasted like boiled potatoes with some salt- no taste or flavor. The uthapam dished as tacos were served on a heap of roasted buckwheat- doesn’t it read fancy? But no taste whatsoever ever. We ordered the cabbage that came riddled with whole coriander seeds and had so many onion seeds ( Kalonji ) as the bed- hopeless- would not recommend this restaurant- it is a shame to Indian cuisine- I have been to Indian restaurants that want to have non traditional dishes and stay away the usual spicy, oily, tikka and the beaten dishes and this place is flop trying to do it. Slapping upscale atmosphere with high prices without eatable food is how I would describe this place. To the chef- please do everyone a favor and stop making ridiculous Indian food.
Returned here and had a truly delicious meal of the crispy cauliflower, badger beets, scallops, nihari & chicken saagwala. A highlight was the sommelier who helped us select some really delicious wines!
A lovely restaurant with beautifully presented and tasty food and excellent service. We had the lamb cheela, beef nihari, crispy cauliflower, daal, naan and rice. All were enjoyable but my expectations may have been too high from recent meals at Bungalow and Gup Shup. I'll be back here again sometime to try out more of the menu.
We dined here 2 nights ago with some acquaintances; while the company was meh -- the food and drinks were outstanding. we were greeted with a complimentary amuse-bouche.. which was outstanding and so pleasant and unique. The mains and apps were stunning - particularly the crudo. Honestly this was the most elevated and unique Indian food I have tried -- although the menu seems intimidating.. its actually more accessible and palatable for the less adventurous dinner. The G&T was a perfect way to wash down this stunning meal. I def will be back for the tasting menu-- and of course the amuse-bouche .
Food was delicious and perfect in every way. Service was warm, hospitable, and on point. Restaurant is beautiful. 10/10 highly recommend.
A refreshing departure from the heavy-handed clichés of Indian dining, Passerine, a little gem, reimagines the genre with elegance and restraint. The room is stylish yet unpretentious, the service polished but warm. Each dish lands with clarity—spices layered rather than loud, textures precisely tuned. From a delicately spiced hamachi, to coconut-laced scallops, to delicious crispy cauliflower and potato filled uttapam, the cooking is innovative, confident, light, and deeply satisfying. It’s Indian cuisine at its most thoughtful: complex, not complicated. Oh, and to top it off … amazing wine list. I look forward to going back.
