We booked the chef's table and loved every minute of it. What a great little spot for dinner. The Italian chefs Luigi & Ricardo were very interesting and we had fun talking to them. The food was delicious, as was the wine. Highly recommend this spot in Amsterdam!

I would not recommend eating here if you have a food allergy. I ordered a panini from the menu that did not list pesto as an ingredient but then came with pesto. When I asked if there was pesto on the sandwich, the waiter yelled at me and told me it was my fault because I didn't tell him. They then scraped off the pesto (which they never confirmed had nuts) and reserved the exact same sandwich on different bread. SO many other restaurants in the area deal with allergies better, spare yourself the headache and skip this one!

This is a must when in Amsterdam, meal sized just right. The spaghetti was amazing!

Do NOT go here. My friend and I were having dinner last night when a cockroach FELL from the ceiling into her hair. She brushed it off and panicked and we called over staff and they killed it and pretended nothing happened. Didn’t even apologize! Didn’t comp anything. Handled it very poorly.

This spot was so cute when I found it. I am sad to write this but half way through appetizers a cockroach fell on my head from the ceiling… The waiter killed it and cleaned it up but didn’t really apologize and nothing was comped or anything at the end of the meal. I wish it was a different experience but it wasn’t. Food was good.

Cute restaurant with great food and quick service. The atmosphere was really nice with mellow lighting.

I got the paccheri alla genovese which was excellent! We also got the sfinci di ricotta (3 small fried donuts) and the tiramisu for dessert which both were so good.

Overall, super pleased that we stopped in here tonight. Highly recommend.

Super average, ate there when I was hungry and kind of regretted not searching for a better option.

We had an amazing time at Pastai, such an elegant spot, Mo at the bar really took care of us, and the food was super delicious. The fried artichoke was almost like a vegetarian calamari. I had the Bucatini Con Cavolfior and really loved it, my boyfriend had the ravioli which I shamelessly stole a bite. I wasn’t going to get dessert but got talked into it, and SO glad I did—the Parmesan crème brûlée was to die for, and I also stole a bite of my boyfriend’s flowerless cake and ice cream, which was also super tasty. I almost ate too much but no regrets 😂 We will have to go back soon and try a few more new things! As a vegetarian, Pastai has a bunch of really good options and a great balance on the menu.

It’s an ok casual restaurant. I felt that the pasta selection could have been better. The prosciutto and the burrata was excellent. Service was good as well.

Had a great meal here last night. Started with meatballs plus a warm beet & goat cheese salad, followed by Paccheri with flank steak ragù & the swordfish tagliatelle special. Everything was delicious. Our server Oscar was a star - very friendly and efficient. $100 for food plus $100 for wine. Definitely will be back.

Very nice little restaurant. Everything is fresh and of very good quality.
Small, selected menu, as we know it from Italy.
Very friendly staff who keep the standard high.
Prices are typical for New York.
Clear recommendation, even for vegetarians.

I had friends in from out of town staying in the area so I chose to meet them at Pastai without knowing anything about the restaurant except for review. I couldn't have been happier about the choice. A nice local restaurant away from the tourist traps. We started with appetizers, fried artichokes, caponada, and octopus... all wonderful. My partner and I shared cauliflower pasta, and brancino. Both were wonderful. My guest had a panini and pasta with tuna. They both said it was wonderful. For dessert we decided to split a creme brulee. Which was also wonderful. The staff there couldn't have been more friendly or more help. We really all enjoyed having our meal here. It was of delightful reunion which was only made more delightful by this wonderful restaurant.
