A pure French pastry moment in the West Village: the plain croissant arrives crisp and airy, its honeycombed heart gently yielding into tender layers. Although I craved a richer butter finish, the subtle doughy transformation on each bite had a quiet, comforting charm. A softly elegant start to my morning.

Pretty run-of-the-mill overpriced pastries. My latte was tepid. Can’t recommend it.
Great chocolate cake, chocolate inside out, cake, ganache, and sprinkles. Friendly staffs.
We are lucky and spoiled and have the best croissant in Paris regularly. We have been on a search for the best one in NYC to hold us over until our next visit to Paris. I think we found it at Claude.

Small cozy bakery, with a warm atmosphere and jazz playing in the background. All the pastries looked amazing, and I opted for the blueberry danish which was flaky to perfection, sweet and comforting. I also got a strawberry matcha, which unlike most other places, didn’t have a strawberry syrup/purée on the bottom but instead had a delicate mousse on top! I liked it a lot, the strawberry taste was subtle but a nice touch. I’d definitely go back! Service was also great!

Vegetarian options: Blueberry Danish and Crème Brûlée Cruffin were two of the best pastries I’ve had in NYC

Got the chocolate cake and maple syrup coffee. Has to be the BEST chocolate cake ever. It was so moist and soft and the coffee was perfect!!

It’s a shame. They were the best real French croissants in the Village. When it was renovated they must have changed recipes and or chef. Now croissants are over-sized, shiny, brown and overcooked. Impossible to eat, mostly flakes everywhere and inside is dry and tasteless. Too bad, it was a little jewel in the Village.

No longer Claude’s. What a loss - sigh. Part of our absolute favorite regular go-to neighborhood treasures. Original menu is gone. Glad we had those delicious quiches fur as long as we did!💔
I'm not a big cake person, but holy cow...their chocolate cake is amazing. It's perfectly not too sweet, the sprinkles add texture to every bite and they're not chalky, and the cake and cream are so smooth, rich, and moist. Everything just meshed well together and I had nothing like it before.
As for the store itself, it's quite small and took a bit of time for a table to clear up.

I’m absolutely devastated they completely changed this bakery. When they first announced renovations I was excited bc the space needed a refresh. When the new owner took over I remember reading they were going to keep the recipes passed down from Claude. Where did all the pastries go? What is this place now? Croissants and matcha? Chocolate cake? No more French cookies, tarts, pastries. Just change the. Same at this point, it’s no longer the same place with the same charm and amazing desserts.
