Overall dining at Per Se was a bitter sweet experience - while some of the components of the evening were extraordinary, there were other components that were very lack luster/wasteful. Per Se seems to have one target audience - guests who are willing to over-indulge beyond reason. The quality, techinique and ingenuity of the food itself is amazing - but the lack of coherent food story, menu options and comfortable seating, paired with high prices, are what labels this overall experieince as a "might as well try" vs a "must try". I have inserted a list of pros and cons below - hopefully this will help future diners determine if this is the right experience for them. If you are in search of a quality Michelin rated experience and are not trying to overindulge on all levels, then there are several alternative options close by in NYC (i.e. Le Bernadin & Sushi Nakazawa). Going forward, I hope the management team at Per Se can provide an better experience to guests willing to pay different price points - for right now it feels like their main target audiencetruly is "rich bankers from the early 2000s" and it shows. Pros - Most Favorable Dishes: Oysters & Pearls, Tuna Tartare Cone, Hiramasa Sashimi, Warm Donuts & Coffee Ice Cream, Bumpy Cake, Bread & Butter, St Germain Sorbet - Ambiance, Calmness & The View - Attentiveness of Servers & Staff - Excellent Substitutions for Allergies - kitchen staff was able to make me a custom sorbet on the spot due to a raspberry allergy - which turned out to be one of my favorite desserts of the evening - Seamless Tranistion From One Meal to the Next - never felt rushed nor had to wait for an extended period between meals Cons - Least Favorable Dishes: Macarons, Bon Bons, Shortbread Cookie Sandwiches, Popcorn Sorbet - Small Cramped Corner Table for 2 - two peaple squeezed into a single chaise which made it hard to face each other while conversating - also we could barely fit all components of the dessert round onto one table - Wasteful Gift Bags & Treats - while appreciated they were really un-necessary - for none of the take home treats were exceptional, they were merely ordinary - would have much rather prefered a complimentary glass of champagne/wine in its place - More Perks Given to YouTube Influencers Than Actual Customers - influencers are provided with complimentary champagne/wine tastings and amuse bouches - giving the appearance those are truly complimentary to everyone when they are not

I write this recognising that Per Se is first and foremost a business. It has to find a market and service that market which by our experience it does most successfully. The service was impeccable if a little austere at times and the location was impressive - though the lobby took subdued lighting to an extreme which bordered on the impracticable. The food was of a high quality with some interesting combinations of flavour. We had the four course salon menu which was severely lob sided in that the five plates of dessert was way out of proportion to the rest of the meal. Overall the menu was unexceptional - and again we recognise the market being served - but it lacked the creativity we have experienced at many other (lessor) starred restaurants in Europe and UK.

I lost my account where I had already done a review in 2022 for this amazing restaurant. It reflects in every sense the American haute cuisine. Thank you so much for this amazing experience.

I have to admit, every dish here is absolutely exquisite.

Phenomenal experience dining at Per Se. While it is a tasting menu, there were options to accommodate to our preferences and desires. My husband and I are not fans of tasting menus as a whole, but I have to stay every dish was out of this world. The highlight of our experience were the staff. While extremely professional and adhered to the highest quality of serving standards, they adapted to our style of conversation and pace of eating. They were engaging and made our night that much better!

Far too expensive, the prices here are really ridiculous, we really ate in many *** restaurants that are much better but Per Se is spoil the most expensive ever. Don't be alarmed if you have to tick off $1,000 pp. For this you can go to Noma twice or to the libreije 3 times. Food is fine but not really very special. So good food yes, price quality heavily insufficient

I recently checked your restaurant’s website on Google, and I noticed it doesn’t look very professional. My name is Muhammad Zain Raza, and I’m a website developer. I would love to create a fully professional, responsive, and animated website for your restaurant, packed with many modern features to make it stand out. The best part is, I can do this for you at a very affordable rate without compromising on quality.

It's wonderful. French and American fusion. I love the (Tasting Menu) part.

We had the 4-course Salon Prix fixe menu. This consisted of 2 appetizers (oysters and pearls, then lobster), one entree (lamb loin), and a full spread of desserts. There were no choices on the menu without upcharges, but vegetarian substitutes could be requested (though in my opinion, they are not as good) and staff make every effort to accommodate your tastes. Service was impeccable, and food was memorable (oysters and pearls are fabulous). As in the main dining room, you receive amuse-bouches, most non-alcoholic drinks (ciders, cappuccinos, etc.), after-dinner chocolates, and a take-home bag of cookies etc. Comparing this to the main dining room (where we have eaten before). You are seated off to the side, and almost all tables lack views of Central Park. The menu was a subset of the 9-course meal; however, we found this to be almost an advantage as there is an excess of food in the full menu., While portions are generally small (more oysters in the oysters and pearls please!), the dessert is large and we were satiated by the end. This lacks the grandeur of the main room, but you are treated like royalty and taste some outstanding cuisine for about 40% the cost of the full experience - we will be back.

Every dish was well-executed, and just the right portion serving. I enjoyed every single dish, which I rarely do at tasting menus. The view over Central Park cannot be beat and service was exceptional. We had a wonderful Father's Day dinner here.

We didn’t just eat at Per Se. We celebrated. Worshipped. Ascended. For my mom’s 75th birthday, we went all in: Truffles. Caviar. Wagyu. Wine pairings so perfectly matched they should’ve come with a prenup. The Experience? Royalty. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated my mom like the queen she is... and me... like the princess just trying to make the evening perfect. Every single team member, from host to sommelier, was gracious, funny, incredibly knowledgeable, and never once made us feel out of place... despite the fact that one of us (okay, maybe me) asked if the butter came from cows with job titles. I’ve eaten at more Michelin-starred restaurants than I can count (thank you, Workcations) and this was top three of my life. Every course was a moment, plated like art, explained like poetry, and somehow still satisfying in that “I’m definitely eating luxury but also definitely full” kind of way. Who Needs Rent Money Anyway? Look, it was a mortgage payment of a dinner. But it was worth every dollar and every decadent bite. We added everything... because why not? Truffles? Yes. Caviar? Absolutely. Wagyu? Obviously. Wine pairings? Don’t insult us. This was a once-in-a-lifetime meal to celebrate a once-in-a-lifetime woman. And if you’re going to blow a small fortune on food, make sure it’s for someone who taught you how to do it right. Oh, and in classic NYC fashion... a very loud, very drunk woman tried to take a flash selfie in front of the iconic windows. Staff shut it down with the kind of quiet precision that should be studied in diplomacy school. Ma’am, this is Per Se, not Times Square. It was a reminder that no matter how elegant the environment, NYC always NYC’s. And I kind of love that. If you’re wondering if Per Se is worth it... Yes. And then some. For a milestone birthday, a once-in-a-decade celebration, or your own deeply earned indulgence... this is the place. It’s not trendy. It’s not loud. It’s not where you go to be seen. It’s where you go to feel something. Thank you, Per Se. You gave us the kind of night we’ll talk about forever. Even if we’re eating ramen for the rest of the month.

Great food, especially the service! It was definitely an experience. Atmosphere at 5p on a Friday was calm, upscale vibes. It was pretty dark in terms of lighting, would prefer a tab brighter to see my food. The menu was great. My partner and I chose supplement dishes, like Negi curls and wagyu (not pictured)The dessert spread was an experience.

The food and atmosphere are good. I booked a reservation in Lounge and was upgraded to table. After the dinner, I also had a tour to kitchen. It was a great experience. However, there is no person guiding me out the restaurant. And the glass wall at the entrance is too clean and I didn’t notice that. Sadly my nose has a bone friction and need a plastic surgery.

Food was great, the tasting menu is dessert heavy. Service was really disappointing. There are far better places to go in NYC that don’t have 3 Michelin stars.
