Absolutely terrible experience. The seafood was rubbery, the service was slow, and we didn’t get what we ordered. I’ll never return.
It’s rare I leave a 1-star review, but this place truly deserves it. The food was inedible, and the staff was rude and unprofessional.
Horrible service and even worse food. The seafood was undercooked, and the staff didn’t seem to care when we complained.
This place ruined my dinner plans. The fish was old, and the entire meal lacked flavor. Definitely not coming back.
Really nice hospitality. Can’t wait to try all this great food. Mr. Angelo you were such a pleasure thank you so much for the hospitality.
I have been a customer for many years, but today’s interaction with an employee there, has given me pause not to frequent this store again. Customer service has become non- existent. There are always new young women at the counter, who never greet customers and barely speak with you. I always have to tell them I want a receipt, as they never ask. However, today’s visit tops them all.
An overweight Hispanic man who works there was so rude today, I am not sure if I will go back.
I have seen his rude behavior to other customers, but, never had the displeasure of working with him, to encounter his bad behavior.
Instead of one of the young women taking the order, this man came to the counter. I was very clear as to what I wanted, and repeated the order twice. When I went to check out, he added a salad I did mot order, and became annoyed when I told him I had not ordered this. He spoke so rudely and began waiving his hands at me. He spoke in Spanish to the two women there and they began laughing.
When I gave my card to be punched twice, as there were two separate orders. he yelled and said you are only getting one punch and waived his hands at me. This is intolerable.
Perhaps none of them understand English well, but this exemplifies poor customer service. I have seen other reviews stating this, as well. These employees need training or you will lose more customers. There are too many options available today, where one does not need to be subjected to such poor customer service.
Beware of Pescatore Seafood at Grand Central. I bought one of their sushi bowls yesterday and have been throwing up all day! The only other thing I ate was a sour dough roll from Eli's and freshly brewed ice tea.
The people working there were inattentive and do not seem to speak or understand English - much less know anything about the product they are selling. Whoever is ordering, preparing or handling fish there do not seem to be qualified for the job. This poisoning can be very serious. I am only hoping not to lose another day or more. Where are the owners or professional managers of this seafood establishment? I would not be trying this again!
I've liked Il Pescatore's "fresh lumpia" type of wraps since the early 2010s, but hadn't had any since 2018. I was glad to refresh my memory w/ a soft-shell crab roll & a swordfish roll. However, I should've had them in reverse, because the swordfish is rather lemony, & the crab tastes of Old Bay seasoning (savory & salty).
Mexican street trash @ the small Sushi store (opposite of meat section) on Friday evenings..
We bought California sushi and the lady at the counter was rude. We came from another country and since we did not know the rules of this place, she just looked at us instead of helping us.

I shop here frequently and I’ve never had a problem. I just took out the fish I bought and it was packaged in the sloppiest way, and the fillet itself is cut terribly. Really not happy.
Just go to Citarella instead!!! Five days in advance I placed an order for a dinner party. I received a text message from them that the order had been received and confirmed. When the delivery date and time went by I called them to see how late the delivery was running. They told me my order had been cancelled and Door Dash should have contacted me. Door Dash. I place a $150 seafood order and they don’t even have the courtesy to call me directly when they screw up. Additionally, they clearly do not have the business acumen to manage a future delivery. They left me with nothing and I would NEVER trust them again. NEVER!!
Pescatore Seafood Company in the Grand Central Market provides a variety of fresh fish, sushi to go and pre-made takeout items like lobster dumplings and crab cakes. We bought a half dozen each of their crab and lobster dumplings on our way to the train. We preferred the lobster. Notable in the filling. If you're a Manhattan resident or if you are a short ride on a commuter train away, there's a lot of beautiful fish choices to bring home for dinner.
For quality and service in Grand Central Market?
I have shopped at Grand Central MARKET for 13 years. I've always stopped at Pescatore but never brought anything. Recently while looking, two very nice young ladies wanted to ensure I was getting help. I decided to buy the shrimp salad roll. I was not disappointed. The Space is small but clean, the staff was very nice and remembered me by face. If you have any food allergies Shell Fish, Peanut butter, etc..) the staff is available to answer any questions. Ohh and their soups are good too.
