The first time we came here was over 10 years ago and we had such a bad experience, we figured it’s been long enough so let’s give it another shot. Outside of the grumpy old man who greets you at the entrance, who I think is the same one that was there 10 years ago, the service was very pleasant and friendly. The bread is absolutely delicious and the olive oil is good. That’s about it. The Caesar salad is drenched in oil, not even sure what that was. The pizza tasted like microwavable pizza with a fried crust. The Brodo with tortellini was average, perfectly OK and definitely needed the extra Parmesan and pepper added to it. The orecchiette was good, but tasted more like mac & cheese. The Bronzino was fine, unfortunately they do not debone the fish so that was a fun challenge. The wine was perfectly fine as well. It was a very average and underwhelming experience. The tables are right next to each other so you have about 6 inches of space between you and the person at the next table, which unfortunately is standard for some NYC restaurants. I certainly will not go back and will not recommend this restaurant. It wasn’t a horrible experience. It was just very average. and I believe it is a popular place because it is relatively inexpensive compared to other NYC restaurants. But you get what you pay for.

I enjoyed a late afternoon weekday lunch and appreciated the welcoming host and servers. Caesar with grilled shrimp was good - nicely charred but tender shrimp and a well balanced dressing - croutons were a bit sad, hard small squares of bread and the romaine was fresh but could have been less cut up. They should make croutons from the house bread which is fantastic and a great accompaniment to their excellent minestrone - along with a glass of the dolcetto, a good beginning to the Fall season. Would try again to sample pastas and specials.

We had Caesar salads, the very simple one was only composed of lettuce and croutons, the 2nd also had pieces of chicken (the most hearty) and the 2nd had 7 shrimps. At 19, 25 and 27 respectively, a piece of lettuce is expensive. All this enhanced with 20% tips!
Ps: they were still all sprinkled with parmesan powder!

Indescribably delicious and authentic Italian food. This has to be, in my opinion, the best place to eat Italian in New York.

Rarely have we had such delicious food and wine.
Everything is professional and plays to the max, in a very very pleasant calm and subdued manner.

I can give the place my warmest recommendations. Many restaurants will be able to find inspiration here.

Wonderful squid ink risotto, a special to celebrate the feast of the Redentore in Venice. Entire meal highlighted Venetian cuisine, with beautifully & simply prepared sea bass and an enjoyable Vitello tonnato. Very modest wine list; perhaps that could be improved to match the quality of the cooking, but we had a perfectly acceptable Lugana.

Every dish our party got was fantastic. We were all sharing 4 pasta dishes since they were all so good. The bread was great as well - tasted like it was baked next to a campfire in the best way possible - really something special!

The host was very friendly and welcoming! So happy we ended up at this special family-run restaurant!

A true gem! We've been coming back again and again over 10 years now and we've never once had a bad experience. The food is always fresh, tasty and well executed. The staff is lovely and always appears just as we need something. And the wine list! The quartinos are perfect when you don't want a full bottle. Five stars across the board.
