Quaint, authentic italian establishment with welcoming friendly staff. We made a resveration but then also called and were told they don't really use the Resy reservations so I wouldnt recommend using it as your seats are still not guaranteed. We had an 8:15 res but were given bar seats when we got there.. they said we could wait for a table but then communal seating was the only avail, so we stayed at the bar. Other than that everything was great! Marco at the bar was very kind and accommodating. The food was clearly very genuine, fresh pies and delicious pasta/sauce. Recommend for sure.

Located in bowery, under the sohotel. My wife and I went here on a whim, and what a great choice it was. The food was fantastic. We ordered simple foods. Done well. The flavors were spot on and delicious. Lite and flavorful.
Atmosphere is exactly what we were looking for. Small, cozy and perfectly themed. A pizza oven stands at the rear, run by two authentic Italian men who provided positive and friendly service. We felt like we were at an Italian family's house for dinner.
Service was met with a smile. I definitely would recommend this spot for a delicious bite within the city. 5/5 all around. A true gem in the city.
We will be keeping this on our list for our next visits to the city.

La Bonne Excuse Restaurant
An excellent time in this charming little restaurant. High quality cuisine, very warm and friendly service. The pizza was perfect, light, cooked over a wood fire. The pasta was just like my grandmother made it. One of our best meals in New York, I highly recommend. Please note that a discount is applied in this case.

What an amazing and absolutely fantastic place!! This Italian restaurant was absolutely 5 star worthy and even more!! My friends and I initially came only for drinks but we were so impressed with Marcello! He took care of us and made you feel like you were at home having a comfort meal with family! The service and food were impeccable and I’m still thinking about the Carbonara pizza which was my fave!! We also had the Wild boar Ragu, Carbonara (homemade pasta) and the Fergola with clams in broth. We also had the almond biscotti, ricotta cheesecake which was heaven with every bite, and tiramisu. Everything was freshly made with much care and attention to allow for an exceptional meal!! My friends and I can’t wait to go back!!
