A hidden gem for sure! All the food is fresh and delicious and the service is quick, kind, and helpful. The best black and white cookies I’ve found in New York so far!

Real New York, old school Jewish deli. They’ve got all the classics, including my favorite: kasha varnishkes and knishes, plus vegetable soup. The soup was hearty, the right amount of salt and a tasty broth with chunks of veggies. The knish had a great texture and flavor (though was a little
overpriced when compared to Zabar’s excellent offerings). It’s worth the trip for the kasha varnishkes which tasted just like my grandma’s and brought back all the old inner happiness.
The vibe is relaxed, friendly, and service is fast. I’m not a meat-eater but they offered all the classic meat deli dishes including matzah ball soup, liver, various sandwiches and all the yummy side dishes you’d expect. Great spot for brunch or for bring home a fest for visiting family!
Vegetarian options: There are enough vegan options to have a good meal, and lots more if you’re an egg-eating vegetarian.

An alternative deli in the UES, with friendly service, offers tasty breakfast and lunch of classics as salmon & bagels, cheese blintzes and good pastrami sandwiches. Recommended!

Classic deli experience! The liver was rich and flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and paired well with fresh bread. The borscht soup was a standout—deep, hearty, and just the right balance of sweet and tangy. Great service and authentic flavors. Definitely worth a visit!

Stay away from them for delivery. Ordered two sandwiches. One of them was as a tongue sandwich which was fatty and skimpy. Called the restaurant about my disappointment. They didn’t care! How can you not care about your Tongue sandwich?

A quintessential New York City Jewish delicatessen!
I'm new to Kip's Bay, so I took a chance with P.J.'s.
So very glad that I did!!
Sandwiches so overstuffed, they include extra slices of bread
in a takeout order just in case you wish to make TWO sandwiches! lol
Sides, beverages & desserts are ALL top-nawtch!
Regarding desserts, I ordered a slice of their Seven Layer Chocolate Cake.
Understandably, they were soldout.
But as incredibly busy as they are, and during the Lunch Rush!,
they still took a moment out to call me and ask what I'd like as a replacement dessert.
Incredible!!
I ended-up opting for a hunk of the fresh-baked Apple Strudel ....
Awesome!
Cannot recommend P.J.'s enough.

I tried to call this restaurant to ask about their services, but the staff was shockingly rude. They abruptly hung up the phone on me without any reason or explanation. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable for a business that relies on customer service.
If this is how they treat potential customers, I can’t imagine what the experience would be like dining there. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for respect and basic courtesy.
