Had heard a lot about this place and was excited to try it out but very disappointed. There was cockroaches visible in the kitchen and the food came out cold. Cocktails were bland and lacking complexity. Would not recommend.

Please Don't Tell is an exclusive speakeasy in New York's East Village. The secret entrance through a phone booth inside a hot dog restaurant gives it a mysterious and fun touch. Once inside, the atmosphere is intimate and cozy, with decoration that transports you to another time. The cocktails are innovative and well-crafted, with surprising and delicious options. The service is excellent, and the overall experience is unique, ideal for those looking for something out of the ordinary in the city's nightlife. An experience that you will not easily forget!

Wow what an amazing experience. My bartender Pappy was a true professional with some of the best knock knock jokes I've heard in my whole life. My favorite drink was the belligerent gorilla, which you order by simply banging your fists on the table and loudly grunting. Truly a one of a kind experience!

Great spot! Skip the kimchi dog. Kind of a let down, but the other dogs are 👍👍
We didn’t eat food so I can’t rate that. My friend and I arrived on Friday night about 6pm, we hadn’t made a reservation but we managed to get seated at the bar. We tried the old fashioned, as well as their take on an espresso martini, and a whiskey sour. All 3 were delicious and our bartender was friendly and jovial. I can’t believe it’s taken me 13 years in NYC to try this spot!

I was a regular costumer just last year im a bartender in San Marks and I know pretty much the people on my neighborhood.
at the beginning the atmosphere and the service was incredible from the part of pdt but suddenly I walk to Crift dogs one day with my girlfriend I was not drinking we were just enjoying the hot dogs they sell there however a really rude staff member which name is Jessica threw the food to me and my girlfriend . I been Working in the industry for almost five years and it made me really upset and disappointed also angry at her we pass back to the pdt because I was your really upset
Then suddenly they decided to make me 86 of the bar just because of the rude actitud from Jessica I hope the owner fire her because that’s not way to treat people overall really disappointed

I had a martini there it was really good only thing was I am so precise with my olives and olives were not that good. But it is a personal think, their playlist was on fire, we meant to ask.

I love a good speakeasy.. Lots of young folks here when we went! Wonderful drinks and staff. Crif Dogs is such a classic if you grew up here so grab some food before going in to PDT! Don’t forget to make a reservation :)

It's completely overrated, with a false selse of exclusivity. Worst thing is that employees act like they own the place and go on a power trip. So many better options in the alphabet city, so take your business elsewhere and don't ruin a great evening with waiting and disappointment.

You will find the entrance to Please Don't Tell (PDT) Speakeasy by entering Crif Dogs and locating a phone booth inside on the left wall. It's recommended to have a reservation as this bar is well known and popular. Simply pick up the receiver in the phone booth and dial "1". This is essentially a doorbell to let them know you're looking to come inside. The drinks are clever and well crafted. The space inside is cozy and intimate. You can order food from Crif's along the lines of custom-made dogs, tater tots, and similar fare. The attraction, however, is clearly the libations that range from classic offerings to the outrageously eccentric yet delicious 😋. For example; I ordered the Fountain Cobbler - St George Absinthe, Four Roses Bourbon, Lustau Palo Cortado Sherry, Coconut, Root Beer Cordial, Lime, Maple, and Peanut Butter! I mean, WOW! WHAT A COMBO! It's hard to describe the flavors you experience in this one-of-a-kind cocktail, but it's one you'll never forget (definitely in a good way 😉). Plan ahead, reserve a spot, and be on time! Your reservation can be forfeit outside of a 15-minute grace period for, you know, life in general. Go treat yourself. This place is definitely worth the effort.

As a lover of a good speakeasy and hotdogs, there's no way that bias can't creep into this review. With that said, you need to go to Please Don't Tell.
I had been trying for a couple of years to make it into PDT, but the timing just never seemed to work out. Finally, one Saturday night - four of us went into Crif Dogs, and picked up the phone to try our luck. It worked, and at about 11:30 we were brought into a very full, but not uncomfortable, Please Don't Tell.
We pretty much tried every dog (and tots) on the menu, and a bunch of cocktails as well - and the experience was nothing short of fantastic. The prices are reasonable for Manhattan, the service was great, and loved everything about the cocktail menu - there was something for everyone.
I know it's difficult to gauge whether or not you're going to get in - but on the bright side, if it's full, you're still at a hot dog stand and a short walk from McSorley's.
In my opinion, Please Don't Tell lived up to, if not exceeded, the hype, and was a surprisingly reasonable check at the end of the night.
