Quality of the coffee here is really good. Love the space although I never sat down to enjoy it. Definitely will become one of my go-tos as a girl who loves coffee

Best coffeeshop I found in this area on a recent 5 day stay. Great coffee, excellent pastries, friendly staff, roomy, and a grand piano for guests to play.

Great coffee shop, but 2 stars off for being aggressively dog unfriendly. Came here on a very hot summer day (90° +) and while most places will let you stand by the door with a well-behaved leashed dog, this place will force you outside in the heat to wait for your to-go drink.

Stayed in Harlem for 6 weeks over the summer. Tried several coffee shops in the first week I was there and easily made this one my “go-to”. Their coffee is truly un matched. I consider myself a bit of a coffee “snob” having grown up with parents who owned a coffee shop, and having traveled to countries that are known for their coffee. Not only is this some of the best espresso I’ve had, but the customer service is so wonderful. After only a few days, the weekday barista already knew my order. Iced americano with an extra shot. He was super friendly and very knowledgeable when my parents came to visit and were asking all about their coffee. They also have a cinnamon roll that is very good, if you see one available, snag it! All of their other pastries were good too. Honestly, I can’t wait until we are back in NY permanently because I have been missing this place!

Good chill music. Ideal atmosphere for those who want to focus and get things done. WiFi, accessible plugs and many tables. There’s a piano and a chessboard. Yummy pretzel and very good pain au chocolate. The coffee was small, but the flavor was great.

Wonderful coffee shop. It’s great Harlem gets to enjoy a spot like this one. Recommend buying their whole coffee beans — freshly roasted. Great variety and wonderful flavor profiles. My favorite shop in the city.

EXCELLENT SERVICE ! My wife and I were more than happy with our first visit here a few days ago. On Wed, Sept 11th we were now into the 2nd week of our 2 week vacation in New York, NY....lots more to do and see. After breakfast at our apartment in Upper Manhattan my wife suggested we walk down here for cappuccinos...and a super delicious almond croissant. SO WE DID ! After walking almost a mile along cruddy Amsterdam Ave in the downtrodden Uptown neighborhood we arrived at Plowshares around 10am. A friendly cashier / barista named Noah greeted us warmly and said he would be with us soon. OF COURSE ! The usual mob of laptoppers had control of almost every table in the place but we did nab a couple of spots at a community table. My wife had made it clear to me she wanted an almond croissant whether I wanted to share or not...in need of a sugar hit. OH NO ! I looked at the display case where they kept their small assortment of light pastries and NO ALMOND CROISSANTS ! We went ahead and ordered 2 x double shot Cappuccinos with 2% milk. BUGGER ! Still in shock that they were completely out of their sensational almond croissants from Petit Chou in the East Village I had to ask Noah why ? A dude came in earlier and cleaned them out. OH WELL ! Noah placed our beautiful looking Cappuccinos on the service counter...I complimented him on his good work but he humbly deferred to Malcom the barista on our first visit. We sat down at our table and totally enjoyed our rich creamy cappuccinos. It's a nice looking coffee shop, great coffee, talented baristas but the hordes of laptoppers puts a big dent in my comfort level. NEXT STOP ! We headed to the subway for a ride to Yankee Stadium in The Bronx !

Maybe it was just because I showed up late but there were no vegan baked goods, just pre-packaged vegan/gf pastries. No vegan hot food options. The coffee was very good but it has a $.75 oat milk upcharge. So overall, less vegan than your average NYC coffee shop. They do have lots of space and the wifi worked fine.
Did not allow a service dog in

I’m so excited to find a place with bomb ass croissants. I loved how perfectly crunchy and warm it was. The coffee is so warming and delicious. I would fully recommend
