This place is a hidden gem! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was incredible. The location is perfect, and the service was some of the best we've ever experienced - friendly, attentive, and incredibly professional. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Forget about pretentious twists - this is authentic Argentinian cuisine done right. Every dish was perfectly prepared, bursting with flavor, and true to its roots. My partner, who grew up in Buenos Aires, couldn't stop raving about every single bite. That's the mark of true authenticity! The menu is very reasonably priced, making this a fantastic value. If you're looking for an outstanding Argentinian dining experience, look no further! You won't be disappointed.

Had dinner here after Sleep No More (just around the corner) and it was amazing. Food was delicious, service was quick and attentive and the drinks were also great. My wife and I shared the choripan for our appetizer. Heard about it on a Netflix show about street food in Argentina and it didn't disappoint. For our mains, she has the salmon and I had the ribeye. Both were delicious. Also they had the entire restaurant sing happy birthday when they brought out our dessert. The restaurant is a bit small, but it didn't feel crowded/packed. Overall a great dinner and reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back.

My friend lives around the area and we have always talked about eating here but it was always full. The place fills up pretty quick. So I recommend having a reservation for a table, we didn't have one and sat at the bar. Nevertheless he a great experience the place is cozy and perfect for catching up with friend while enjoying a good meal. We started with two cocktails, Fifi and Fernando. For appetizers the Empanada de Carne and the Chorizo Criollo y Morcilla. We also had the Camarones con ensalada de Palmitos which they graciously split into two servings for us. For the entree we ordered the Costilla Al Malbec con Chipa Guazu and papas. I must say the food was amazing the chorizo and morcilla were very flavorful. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the palm hearts really complemented it. The empanada was not what we expected but we still enjoyed it. To wrap up the night we ordered the Budín de pan tibio as per the servers suggestion and it did not disappoint! The Dulce de leche gelato was really good. There were so many things we wanted to try on the menu. We would definitely be making a come back.

We were looking for a restaurant close by the McKittrick Hotel, to grab dinner before seeing Sleep No More, and came across Porteño. What a gem! My friends and I had a really great experience here (our first time at an Argentinian restaurant). For our appetizers, we ordered the bruschetta and the calamari, which were both FANTASTIC. Eat the bruschetta in a big bite to get all the flavors (my one friend wasn’t a huge fan of the anchovy but the rest of us loved it!). For main, two of us got the 16 oz ribeye with the potato salad (dreaming about this potato salad as I write this review) - but it is a huge portion especially if you’re ordering appetizers, so I’m glad I shared the dish. Great wine options at modest price points.

Easy reservations, great service and we felt well taken care of but the food just didn't blow us away. We went here with another couple and ordered separate dishes, the food wasn't terrible but it wasn't super “wow!” either.

Superb experience each time I dine at Porteno. The choices of wines or excellent and the steaks are delicious. But the most elegant thing about porteno is the staff and service . Paula our server is a delight . :))) Stan

Everything we ordered was delicious. Highly recommend the calamari. The place is small, but very cute. And the service was excellent

Very expensive food, in fact it was the most expensive bill in NY, the empanadas I don't recommend as it is an Argentine restaurant it could have been better. But the place is beautiful and the service is excellent.

Porteno continues to be an outstanding restaurant in the Chelsea gallery district. The appetizers, entrees, desserts, wines, and cocktails are delicious. The service is gracious. The space is intimate and tasteful. What a gem!

We live in Brooklyn, but if we're on the West Side, we're eating at Porteño. Warm and welcoming, they always make us feel like regulars. The Argentinian food and wines are comforting and delicious. We've taken visitors here many times without disappointment.
