Horrible. I had an 8:00 reservation and was waiting near the maître D stand, and I was waiting and waiting and waiting. So at about 8:15, I walked over to the maître D and asked him about our table at which point he screamed at me and said, I will be with you right in a moment. Go wait over there. At which point I turned and left.

My husband and I were in NY, went beyond our scheduled allotted time to try because good friends recommended this place.
Owner was very rude when my pasta came out uncooked, I made my waiter know, the owner screamed at the waiter telling him not to throw my pasta away because he will eat it…. Then he comes back to me rudely tells me it was cooked perfect Al Dante…. I know my pasta and I’m entitled to my own opinion but the owner shouted at me saying he will cook more to make it the way I wanted but by this time, my husband and I lost interest.
Other customers in the restaurant all looked at us as if we are making a scene to not pay….
It was Friday night, we were headed out to the show, food already came out late, and other customers who came after us got their food before us.
Very unprofessional behavior of the owner. Shame on you
DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!

The owner or the manager must behave better.

Delicious food, great atmosphere and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Octopus salad was fantastic. The orecchiette con pugliese with mixed sausage was a large portion and was delicious. Our server was funny, helpful, very responsive. A great overall experience. Not surprised it was crowded on a Wednesday night.

Food is awful, fish tasted rancid. And the owner is rude and nasty to customers.
Best Italian spot in the city. Food, wine, and service all top of the line. The staff is always very welcoming and the food has never missed. This place is special.

The only reason this restaurant gets 2 stars is for the great service. The food, however was at best mediocre and very overpriced: the vegetables and breadsticks in the appetizer dish were stale and old. The caprese salad included only two (!) small slices of tomato and mozzarella. The risotto ai frutti di mare (seafood risotto) was tasteless. The pasta dishes of my colleagues were a bit better, but nothing spectacular.

Primola on the Upper East Side is a fantastic restaurant that's become an institution. Their food, especially the veal Parmesan, is truly impressive. The bar area offers a welcoming atmosphere, and the attentive staff makes dining here a pleasure. If you're in the mood for delicious Italian cuisine, Primola is an excellent choice.
