Had been to the previous location next door many many times, and it was truly one of my favorite bars in NYC.The new location loses almost all of the weird charm that made this bar so interesting, and replaces it with a generic narrow bar with some cool pictures on the wall. All that being said, the best part was always the beer. So me and some friends go sit at a table in the back and 2 out of 4 of us order a beer to start. The bartender immediately starts acting icy and strange. About three minutes after bringing us our beers, he asks us if someone else can sit with us because “we’re not drinking.”The whole experience was some weird passive aggressive masterclass in bad service. I guess this was probably just a case of a bad bartender, but, man, this place has lost about everything that made it unique before and added some awful service on top of it. Lots of better bars in the immediate area. That being said - the beer I drank was pretty good, and I’ve always liked their selection in the past. So two stars for that!

Your new favorite underground spot to grab a beer. This place is super laid back and the beer is 10/10- several options and fair prices.

One of the best bars in NYC with a beer selection that will make your favourite watering hole gape in awe. Highly recommended!

When I closed my tap I couldn’t get a receipt because the iPad was frozen. Several days later I see a charge that is considerably above the (appropriate) amount that I tipped. This may just be a one-off honest mistake, but it seems shady.

Gavin is a legend. Truly a class act. Cantillon pours served with great conversations

Surprisingly spacious bar in this part of the village with an eclectic beer list and chill vibe. Saturday evening, crowds haven't rolled in yet, as most of the place is empty, particularly a small table outside for nicer weather. As mentioned, the beer list is unique, but the prices match that. $12-14 for full pours and $8-10 for half (so on). They also have a few cans for sale towards the end of the bar, though not as fully stocked as their tap list. For food, there are some items on the menu, but not substantial. Decided to get some food from somewhere else for pickup while finishing the beers outside. Seems like a fine spot for a more lowkey bar as opposed to the normal sports bars in the area.

Nice place but the bathroom is really really weird. It's super dark and illuminated with a dim red light. It's hard to tell what is going on, it's hard to wash your hands, and although it seemed like a really clean place I can't shake the suspicion that the pitch-dark bathroom is so you can't tell how filthy it is.

Cauliflower bites were super tasty. The fries were pretty good too, and the beers are nice.

Proletariat is my new favorite place! What an original beer menu and ALL TASTE GREAT! The service is spectacular and the atmosphere is supercool, laid back, and inviting with your choices between darker/lighter/private/communal nooks and crannies all around. The B burger and fries were fantastic, as were the peppers! This place rocks my world and I'm already planning another rendezvous there soon.
