Love this place and now they've closed. ? No other place I'd go to on 6th. All the good ones are gone.

Not good.
I've ordered take away from Raj Mahal for about fifteen or so years. It's always perfect and there's hardly a wait .

Sorry to hear Raj Mahal went out of business. Have eaten here for years. One of my favorite restaurants. We will REALLY miss this place.

My nose brought me here while walking down 6th and I'm very glad it did! The $20 dinner special is a great value backed up by the amazing food. Pakora and samosas were great appetizers and the onion chutney was out of the world. The soup is a lentil soup that's been blended giving it the perfect texture. Main courses were the lamb kurma and vegetable dhansak. The vege dhansak was amazing! One of the best dishes I've had at any Indian restaurant anywhere! I'd go back just for that! Mango custard was a nice way to finish but paying extra for a serving of rasmalai rounded out the meal in a way I wanted. It's very quiet inside the restaurant and fun chili pepper lighting helps the ceiling feel not low and gives an intimacy to the space. Would go back here again, especially for the vegetarian options
We’ve been going to this place for years and the staff is always so kind and welcoming and the food is delicious. The samosas are fabulous. The butter chicken was decadent and so comforting. And they always give you a free, little dessert after your meal. I highly recommend!
Ordered a Chicken Biryani and a Butter Chicken. The biryani is very bland and the butter chicken tastes like tomato soup.

The worst butter chicken I had in my entire life. Even the rice tastes bad. And the garlic naan doesn't taste like garlic. I don't even know how. Wonder how this kind of restaurant survived in nyc.
Great Naan, samosas and butter chickenLove the live sitar music
I’ve never done a review ever but as a Punjabi tasting their butter chicken I was shocked. It tasted terrible. Literally the worst butter chicken I’ve had in my life not just in nyc.

All I can say is DELICIOUS?!!!!!!!!Food was so tasty and if you haven't please try and get hooked
Vegetarian options: The Shrimp Tandoori was soooooo delicious
I have never had worse naan tikka. They didn’t even bother to put chicken in it they splatter the oil on the naan and charged me for it. It didn’t taste good at all. Don’t go bother.
We had a very nice meal: Mulligatawny soup, Palak Paneer, Vegetable Biryani and Naan. We received complimentary papadam and chutneys when we sat down. And the owners gave us complimentary mango pudding for dessert. We enjoyed the festive ceiling lights and the old world vibe. Hopefully we'll come back to hear the Sitar player. Lots of vegetarian options and the service is attentive.
Vegetarian options: Everything we ordered was vegetarian and there was plenty to choose from. The food was fresh and tasty.
Tasted fine but i would not order from here if you expect to get your moneys worth. I ordered saag paneer and garlic naan on Uber eats. Order total with tip was just under $30. I got maybe five bites of saag paneer with maybe four tiny pieces of cheese. Ridiculously small portion and Uber eats doesn’t think this warrants any sort of refund. Extremely disappointed and feel taken advantage of.
It was truly the worst Chana sag I’ve ever eaten. It had no flavor and was basically just boiled chickpeas and spinach. Texture was horrible. Couldn’t even eat it. Server was very nice but seemed mad I wasn’t eating. I just wanted to pay and leave - I didn’t even want to exchange it for anything else.
