As expected from a place known for udon, the udon was really delicious. It was a bit noisy, but the service was decent. However, not every dish was great. The wagyu tataki was good, and the spiced cucumber was fresh. Unfortunately, the salmon pressed sushi was the worst dish — there was too much rice, the rice was mushy, and the salmon tasted fishy and low quality. The tempura was disappointing.

This place was a bit tight, which made it some what uncomfortable but the food was good. The friendly service stood out as the staff checked on us often

Best udon i.ve ever had.
Trolly better that one I had in Osaka.
Broth was bit salty, but the noodle was out of this world.
All we ordered was fantastic.
2 side dish, 2 don't, came out $110 included tip. NYC price, 🤮

I almost forgot about writing this review. Raku on MacDougal street surprised us with their excellent food and friendly service. We were there during the holidays, and it was definitely worth the wait. The waitress who served us was attentive and professional, and their udon noodles!! I would say the rumors are true. They are good! We also ordered chawanmushi, which we were told would take a little longer, and it was very very warm and tasty!! I really wanted to order some sake, but we were in a hurry. Don't miss this place if you're visiting nyc!

I was transported back to Japan. Udon was excellent as were apps and the roll cake for dessert is a must. Mango lemonade is also a must have! Was really wowed by the food, hence the 5 stars, as I felt underwhelmed by service tbh (cordial enough but not anything special), but doesn't matter when you're stuffing your face 🤭

We ventured to Soho for some of the juiciest fried chicken and the tastiest udons in the city, and was not disappointed.

No wait for party of 2 on 5:30pm Thu, but the place was seen to be filling up fast. Service was amazing - extremely polite, waters always filled, food served quick and efficiently.

So many varieties on the menu! I opted for something simple, shrimp tempura udon, so I could focus on noodle chewiness and the broth flavorings. Everything was delicious without feeling heavy, even the karage.

Definitely a wholesome meal, perfect for a freezing winter night. Would be back.

Pound for pound I think that Raku is the best Japanese restaurant in NYC. Favorites are the caci ebiten and niku udon for the soups. Other favorites are the fried chicken, the eggplant and the saba ozushi. Before it closed, we were big fans of Kura and chef Norihiro, so it is nice to still be able to get his pressed sushi here.

Raku's food was so delicious and the service was good. When I ate udon, I felt like I was in Japan☺️🍜

I arrived at Raku at 4:47pm to eat alone and I don't know why, but I had to wait outside the store until 5:00pm when the table was empty

One disappointment was that I had to wait outside for more than 15 minutes even in the cold weather when I was waiting 🥶🧊

Came here for dinner around 5pm on a weekday and was seated immediately for a party of two, which was a great start. I ordered the agedashi tofu, ebiten udon, and the fruit roll dessert. The food was served promptly and was delicious! I highly recommend the ebiten (shrimp tempura) if you like crispy fried shrimp paired with a clean tasting broth. The tofu was a decent starter, nothing too special, but the udon was definitely a hit. The dessert was a great conclusion to the meal, fluffy cake paired with a not-too-sweet cream and fruit filling. Overall, would recommend and would return!

For some reason the udons aren’t as good as the east village location. The place is packed even on a weekday. You would need a reservation or go early to line up.

One of our favorite meals in NYC. So good we went back twice! Everything we had was delicious, but the real star is the handmade udon noodles. The texture is wonderful. The hot soup is perfect for a cold day but my favorite dish I had there was the cold mixing udon. Delicious. Make a reservation!
