Raon NYC offers one of the most thoughtful Korean tasting experiences in the city. Kimchi is the heart of the menu, not the soloist but a quiet star that adds depth, balance, and beautiful acidity to each course. The aged soy and doenjang from Jeong Kwan bring a deep, earthy flavor that makes every bite memorable.
My favorite dishes were the foie gras mandu with duck broth and the uni and caviar with tofu and winter gamtae. Raon feels like a calm, confident celebration of Korean flavors and tradition.

Chef Soogil Lim and his wife Sasook Young have created something special at Raon. I found myself smiling so hard as I was eating my cheeks hurt by the end of the mind blowing 10 course meal. I cannot begin to describe the complex flavors, stunning dishes, incredible staff, or the warmest ambiance of a fine dining experience we have ever had... So I guess you better just go and find out for yourself!

One line review: Warm Korean “Jeong” (정) presented with French mastery.
Food: Each dish was cooked and presented with meticulous culinary skills rooted in French fine dining, but when I took a bite, I was thrown back to the familiar taste, smell and texture of Korea. We don’t usually like Korean fine dining restaurants that have diverted too far away from the Korean taste palate or tastes too exotic for the Western audience. Each dish at Raon achieved the perfect balance. Kimchi pairing was unique (and would be very easy for any non-Koreans not used to kimchi).
Service: Everyone (including the Chef himself) was incredibly warm, attentive and professional. I was pleasantly surprised by the near-perfect Korean pronunciation of the (non-Korean) servers. Also credit to great photos we got from the staff members.
Atmosphere: Quiet, calm and welcoming. The interior is tastefully decorated with various artwork by Korean artists.

We had an incredible dining experience at Raon for my birthday. The service was attentive and warm from start to finish, and every dish was beautiful - both visually and in flavor. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance of refined and welcoming. A special highlight was the kimchi pairing, such a unique, creative touch that elevated the meal and made it truly memorable. Every course felt thoughtful and harmonious, and we left already excited to return.

RAON in Manhattan is the Korean restaurant you need to experience — at least once in your life! From the moment I entered the restaurant the chef, hostess, waitress and other staffers couldn’t do enough to make our dining a palatable treat.
It was a birthday gift from my niece/goddaughter. We each had the 10-course tasting menu that included a variety of Kimchi like Sea Urchin Gimbap/Jang Kimchi, New York Bo Kimchi and much more. The menu ended with a platter of delicious sweets.
I was not familiar with Korean cuisine. So I went into the restaurant with eyes closed only to leave three hours later with the desire to return AND to explore further Korean foods.
You sit at a long counter and the food is brought to you by the chef who prepares the final touches. Our waitress, Lindsey, not only served us each dish BUT explained the history and creation of each specialty.
They were flexible with gluten-free diets and non-alcoholic drinks.
The hostess and wait staff were exquisitely tailored in black suits.
The price of the tasting menu is not for the faint of heart. At $255 per person plus the beverages it is quite a hefty tab. It was a gift for me. Thanks to my wonderful niece/goddaughter for making the evening possible.
How often do you experience something so unique with such a personal touch? I highly recommend RAON on East 59th St. (just a stone’s throw from Bloomingdale’s).
Thank you to the entire staff for making our dining evening such a special one!

Absolutely wonderful! I took my aunt for her birthday. What do you do to celebrate someone's 70+ birthday, who traveled the world and speaks multiple languages? You go to Raon, where she commented that this was the best culinary experience she's ever had! Lindsay and all who made our night special and Chef welcoming us, prepping table side, along with their careful attention to my gluten allergy - 5 stars all around. Raon is a must.

The service was amazing. We went for our anniversary and not only did they have a nice sign handmade for us, they also baked a small cake for us as service. All the servers were very professional and their service quality was of the highest.
The vibe was chill. There was music in the background but not too loud. The mood lighting and the dark decor along with the music gave a relaxing fancy spa kind of feel.
The food was overall impressive and unique. The kimchi pairing was pretty interesting and educational. Every course was delicious and well-prepared. Some dishes I wished were different but I would chalk it up as my personal preferences.
Had a great meal here and would recommend if you’re looking for an off the beaten path interpretation of Korean cuisine.

Thank you for a wonderful dinner experience. My favorite was the Scallop Doenjang while my wife loved the Crab Oi Kimchi. She was also blown away by the Korean Pear & Makgeolli Sorbet. What makes this restaurant stand out over the top is the two wonderful host and hostess; they were so kind and funny.

Eating at Raon NYC was something special. Whether you know Korean food well or you’re new to it, the whole experience feels welcoming and thoughtful. The Galbi & Sotbap was rich and tender - super comforting - and the Halibut had this amazing kimchi flavor that stuck with me. Even with dishes that might be familiar, Raon puts a fresh, personal spin on everything. The chef and the staff took the time to explain the menu, making it easy to understand and enjoy without feeling overwhelmed. The meal didn’t just feel like dinner; it felt like being part of a story. You can tell a lot of care goes into every dish and every step. It’s the kind of place that says with you long after you’ve left.

Raon's cuisine far exceeded expectations, and I’m certain many will share glowing photos and reviews of their experience. I’d like to commend the impeccable teamwork between the front-of-house and kitchen staff, which shone through the entire dining experience. The cleanliness of the floor and restrooms was truly remarkable. I look forward to Raon continuing to surpass customer expectations with exceptional service and food. Visited yesterday, and I’m already eager to return today!
