Been a long time customer here but lately the experience has been going downhill. There are so many restaurants in NY now with way better steak frites and burgers. Their martinis seem to be smaller and never cold enough.
But the main problem is the bad attitude and poor service. The final straw was charging me $100 for a cancelled reservation (10 hours prior). Their policy is 12 hours. I didn’t no show, I didn’t cancel two hours before. I make close to 100 reservations a year on Resy, inevitably things come up. Charging for a cancellation is at the “discretion of the restaurant “. Over many years Raoul’s is the only place ever to charge for cancellation. I called and asked nicely for a refund but they refused and with attitude. I’m done with these greedy entitled jerks. There are so many far superior places in town that treat you well and actually want your business, my advice, go support them and have a wonderful evening!

One of the classics in soho. This place gave me the old school French American restaurant vibes. Quality ✅ Hospitality ✅ taste ✅ will visit again.

One of a kind burger - that pepercorn crust is just insanely good. Definitely one of the most interesting burgers I've had.
To improve:
- Would have loved to have more cheese - It's really good but I really had little in the burger
- it's super dry if not dipped in the pepper jus
- the pepper jus was good but waaay to creamy - it makes it too heavy

My three colleagues and I returned to Raoul’s after a long absence. I’m happy to say all is as it was. Steak au poivre was superb, as were the martinis.

Late Sunday lunch reservation for 2. Last visited and regularly visited for dinner over the last 20 or so years. Seating for 2 was in the middle of the restaurant which was quite a tight space with the occasional knock of the chair by staff or other diners. Lunch menu was small but good for our needs, and the food was good quality. Service at lunch felt more rushed and impersonal but wasnt bad enough to say we won't come back for dinner soon.

It hurts me to write this review but it has to be done. Raoul’s management needs to see this written out.
I booked a table at Raoul’s for my wife’s bday. We only had 7 guests at that time- 2 more guests happened to become available the day of the dinner. I called Raoul’s to change the table to 9- they said max they could do was 8 (really rigid policy). I explained the situation and asked for an exception. Was denied. Then I asked that they kindly cancel the reservation and waive the cancellation fee. I was asked to email mgmt and ask for the waiver.
I canceled and then proceeded to engage in a weeks long back and forth with the Raoul’s management. They refused to waive the 350 dollar fee (charged immediately, day of cancellation), on the grounds that I should’ve known this fee would be charged. Ruined my wife’s bday, everyone’s mood, and still didn’t budge. And horrible, discourteous back and forth. With absolute no consideration or empathy. Totally in their discretion to do it. They just wanted to make an extra fee off me, after giving that table away immediately to another Patron. Disgusting.
It is for this reason that I will be boycotting this restaurant from now on. And will make sure no one I know ever steps foot into this establishment. No one should ever be put into this situation and we should demand more courtesy and consideration from these expensive establishments. Sure they’re very good, but nothing is worse than being subjected to this treatment. Would exhort everyone who values good service to avoid this place.

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE & SERVICE. 👎👎😡😡
We told the waiter to put no raw food in our dish (including garnish) because we had a PREGNANT woman in our group. He said ok. But then he still gave us dishes with raw salad and garnish. We asked him to change the dish and recook it. He said ok, and then brought another dish. But when we were eating it, we found raw vegetables. We gave feedback to the waiters but then they argued with us????? And did NOT apologize at all.
POOR ATTITUDE! NEVER COME BACK!

This is one of my favorite truly new york spots. Put your phone away, grab a drink, wait for a seat at the bar and take it all in. The bartenders are fantastic, the dirty martinis are delicious, and the food is amazing. They accommodated my dietary restrictions and allergies and were super attentive and engaging with me as a solo diner. I have been with friends as well and the experience is always excellent! Love it here!

I get why restaurants instill a a cancellation policy as a way to prevent lost business, but they have truly horrendous reservation service. Cancelled just within the 12 hour cancellation window with plenty of time to get a new booking due to Covid. Said I would come in with the sickness if I were not refunded and still did not agree to refund. They would rather have sick patrons infecting their staff and patrons than not continue their Resy scam service. Despicable practices.

Host and general manager were incredibly rude when I had to notify them of a late cancellation that concerned my friend's health. They charged me $100. Please do not dine with them. They had no issues filling that spot! I'm currently filing a dispute with my bank. The service I received over the phone was disheartening. I will be telling everyone I know to skip this place. Kindness and respect go along way, and this place has none!

I had the pleasure of visiting Raoul in New York City this past Sunday for brunch, securing a last-minute reservation at 11:45 AM. From the moment we were seated, the experience felt effortlessly chic, reminiscent of a stylish Parisian café, blending casual sophistication with impeccable service.
To start, we enjoyed the Oysters du Jour, beautifully presented and perfectly chilled, showcasing the restaurant’s commitment to high-quality seafood. For the mains, I chose the Holstein Organic Chicken Schnitzel, golden and crispy on the outside while tender and juicy within—comforting yet elevated. My companion had the Steak au Poivre, seared to perfection and served with a luscious peppercorn sauce, rich and flavorful.
Our beverage selections enhanced the meal further: a glass of red wine paired seamlessly with the steak, while a classic mimosa added a refreshing, celebratory touch to the brunch setting. For dessert, we indulged in the Sticky Banana Pudding, a decadent, moist, and perfectly balanced sweet treat that felt like the ideal conclusion to the meal.
Dining at Raoul felt like a brief escape to Paris. The combination of thoughtfully executed dishes, elegant presentation, and attentive service created a brunch experience that is both memorable and effortlessly sophisticated. Raoul is a standout destination for those seeking classic French-inspired cuisine with a modern New York energy.
