Had breakfast here a few times as it was attached to our hotel. Nice Omelettes and the oatmeal was good. Coffee was always in short supply though- one cup!
one of the best view of Empire State you got from this rooftop
We both had the Jamison's burger with the shot. The burger was cooked perfectly. Service was great. My only issue arose after we left. I received an email from OpenTable inquiring why my party was a no show for the reservation. Well, because when we arrived and said we were there for our 6:30, then didn't bother checking. Bottom line - I'll go back to Rare, but next I'm calling in the reservation. I'm done with using OpenTable.
One of the worst meals i ever had in NYC. The fried chicken sandwish tasted like it was made a week ago. A woman at the next table even sent hers back. Service was bad/indifferent. Order was initially incorrect. We hesitated when we saw the “health grade pending” but we honored our reservation. Got home and looked up the inspection. I won't recite the disgusting list of violations noted at the last 3 inspections. Suffice it to say we never would have eaten there if we had known
I always come by grabbing some food in this spot. I like the efficient service and well prepared food. Kudos.
We ate here twice within a few days because the food was so good and quality was excellent. It is a very popular restaurant and you do need to reserve a table (and still have a to wait a bit). Service is very good and the vibe is great. We had steak and ribs, and burger one night. We couldn’t fault it. Really nice and would definitely return. We stayed at the hotel within the same building (Shelburne Hotel & Suites by Affinia), so after a day of lots of walking, it was great to have such a good hotel literally on our doorstep and to not have to walk any further!
Average food, nothing special, very dark inside/dim lighting. Burger was ok. Service ok. Has roof top bar which is never open in winter such a shame!!!!
This popular restaurant attached to the Shelburne Hotel by Affinia but appears popular not just with hotel guests but with locals too - always a good sign! The bar and restaurant are noisy and vibrant and authentic. Food in New York City isn't cheap and if your idea of a reasonable price for a burger is what McDonald's charge, you'll be unhappy here. But if you do eat here, and order a burger, you'll realise it is a million miles away from just about ever McDonald's or Burger King or Hungry Jacks you've ever been to. The burgers are absolutely amazing, and the accompaniments compliment the burgers well. They also do ribs and fabulous steaks, cooked perfectly. We found some of the staff to be very friendly, and others were a bit abrupt. Not rude, but busy without as much time to engage with you as you might like. The food is the star, and that was worth every cent!
Came here on NYE after reading really good reviews...ordered the lollipop wings which did taste good but had very little chicken on and were mainly crispy skin. I had the New York strip steak which was very big which was good but it had so much fat on, half of it I couldn't eat. My partner had the steak with racalette which did look fab and was well presented. Overall....'meh' was how we felt afterwards after spending over $100 on something which didnt leave us feeling happy. A glass of wine was also a steep $10.
We really enjoyed the food, we had a lobsterburger and as site some French fries with Parmesan cheese. We also had some spicy chickenpops.. with spicy sauce... but the sauce was really not our favorite.. too acid....otherwise really good food!! Service was also very good!
Restaurantji Recommends
We made reservations for four on Xmas eve at 9:30. I received a call from the restaurant at 8:45 letting me know they decided to close at 10:00 and that we should get there ASAP if we wanted to eat. The meal was rushed and the food was very mediocre. We could tell they just wanted us to leave. Very disappointing.
Ate here 3 times whilst staying at the Shelburne. The burgers were extremely tasty, the hand cut fries were amazing and the staff very friendly. Don't change anything, perfect!
Everything ordered by all 6 of us was delicious. A little noisy, but food and service made up for it. Would definitely return. I highly recommend the burger trio, especially since i could not make up my mind on what to order.
Used the bar for drinks on a couple of occasions whilst staying at the Shellburne Hotel. Found the bar staff to be unfriendly and draft beers never available. "The Junction", just along the road, is a better bet!
Great views. And my drink was well made. A little pricy but not overpriced for the experience.
