The ice cream was filling and delicious. You know the scene from Ratatouille? When the chef gets taken back to his childhood after 1 bite? That was me. Very yummy and definitely worth the money!

This spot reminds me of the good ol' days when ice cream was still creamy and the cone took a good 15 minutes to finish! We also got an egg cream which the lady was so excited to make. We'd been craving one all day and it hit the spot. This is a must visit, very nostalgic and delicious. I loved the old fashioned style of the place as well.

Worth a stop for an egg cream or other delight. The chocolate egg cream was fantastic. The environment of the place is filled with paraphernalia. We said hello to Ray and shared how my dad visited his place often 40 years ago. The park across the street is a great place to enjoy your food and the scene.

Ray's Candy Store, nestled near Tompkins Square NYC, offers a bittersweet experience. I swung by, enticed by the promise of classic desserts, and found myself trying an NYC-classic egg cream for the first time. Opting for chocolate, its taste was perfectly fine - nothing groundbreaking, but satisfying nonetheless. The real star of the show, however, were the beignets. Served warm and fresh, they were a delightful treat, embodying the comforting essence of what you'd hope for in such a dessert. Given the prices, which are undeniably affordable, the portions received were impressively generous, making Ray's a great spot for those on a budget. However, the ambiance of the shop leaves much to be desired; additionally, the service encountered during my visit was less than stellar. The staff, while not outright rude, didn't exude the warmth or friendliness you'd expect from a neighborhood dessert spot. This lack of welcoming atmosphere somewhat dampened the overall experience. It's still definitely a place worth visiting for the food, especially if you're in the mood for a quick, tasty treat without hurting your wallet. But don't set your expectations too high for anything beyond the plate.

This place is disgusting, my boyfriend was served spoiled soft serve. How do you let a machine get so dirty the ice cream spoils. The outside looks ghetto. The customer service was trash. We were sure that she was on drugs. I will never even think about getting ANYTHING from here again. ????????

The ice cream is fine, but this is not a candy store, just a small ice cream shack.

Ray's Candy Shop is an absolute gem in [City Name]! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the warm aroma of freshly made treats and the friendly smile of the staff. The variety of sweets on offer is impressive, ranging from classic favorites to unique delights you won't find anywhere else. The best part? Everything tastes as good as it looks! Whether you're craving a traditional milkshake, a decadent ice cream sundae, or one of their famous deep-fried Oreos, Ray's Candy Shop has something to satisfy every sweet tooth. But what truly sets Ray's apart is the cozy atmosphere and the genuine hospitality of the owner, Ray. He's always there to greet customers with a kind word and a recommendation for the perfect treat. It's clear that he takes pride in what he does, and it shows in the quality of the food and the warmth of the service.Whether you're a local or just passing through, a visit to Ray's Candy Shop is a must. Trust me, you'll leave with a smile on your face and a craving for more of their delicious treats!

I saw some videos on YouTube of places to visit in NYC so we did It's a cute little hole in the wall.I had the original egg cream, it's texture is like the froth from a coke float and the flavor was similar to a Wendy's Frosty. My wife had the chocolate which is more chocolatey. We sat in the park across the street where there was about 30 homeless people. I had a great time, my wife held on to her purse very tightly.

A legend! Place was really small and theres no place to dine in, but once you got in you could feel the nostalgic & neighborhood friendliness atmosphere ? we had the fried oreo, I was skeptical at first, but it was soooo good. Eat it while it’s hot! A perfect dessert. Portion is quite big, you can share it up to 4 people. $7 each. They accept credit cards. Would live to try their other menu!
