Do yourself a favor and go get a cookie. The choco toffee cookie is perfectly baked; a wee bit crispy around the edges and soft and chewy in the center. The sprinkled salt on top is just right with the sweetness of the chocolate and sugar. YUM.

Okay my Kitchen Sinker cookie might have been my third cookie of the day, but without question my favorite! I’ll for sure be going back for more!!

Wow - amazing! We got 3 small treats (key lime bar, strawberry shortcake bar, & caramel brownie) all 3 were excellent💚

I've heard people talking about the cookies and I was already in Chinatown so I was ready to find out if the hype was worth it. I got the cookie, but the cinnamon roll whispered to me like the green goblin mask. It was $9.50. Now, for the cookie. It was good. I enjoyed it. I let the cinnamon roll marinate so I could eat it later. I ate that thing on the bus ride home, cold, tossed around, and in the dark. Basically ate it like a beast devouring what might be its last meal. It was so good I almost shed a tear. I don't even have a photo of it. I love a good cinnamon roll. By the time I was done my hands were covered in frosting, my mind was at peace, and I was very happy that I chose to buy it. I can only imagine how good it is under normal circumstances. Anyway, if you go to this bakery don't go only for the cookie. It lives up to its hype fine, but you can get a good cookie anywhere. I don't think I can say the same for the cinnamon roll. And if you're a tourist or coming with children please be aware its not in a good area. There's minimal seating and the parks nearby are unfortunately unsafe/uncomfortable if you're not from here and used to it.

Ugh....really wanted to like this place. My taste buds clearly don't agree with the masses. Pickled PB&J was a failure for me. The coconut, bacon, banana, and cream cake was inedible. My family hated it.

super disappointed after seeing so many great reviews… i saw the strawberry shortcake bar and decided to try it bc it looked good on the counter, but she grabbed me one from the fridge so it was ice cold and wet and soggy and cost $6

This bakery is absolutely worth a visit and I'll certainly be back to try more.
I like that they offer a special cake flavor every weekend. I tried their rhubarb macaroon cake slice ($10) and it was soooooooo good and not overly sweet. The cake slice was so fresh. I also had the midnight banana bread ($5). And oh my goodness, I was surprised at how moist and rich it was. It's a thick and heavy slice, in the very very best way. Really good quality and value.
This is a small shop. There's not much space inside. No seating except for one small table outside.

I returned for what infatuation has rated as #1 chocolate chip cookie in nyc, the choco toffee cookie. It's suuuuuper good, chewy, but I loved the PB miso cookie even more!
Red Gate is also becoming my favorite bakery for cake slices.

Loved the chocolate chip toffee cookie and the bagel cookie. The bagel cookie was a nice salty savory cookie. Chocolate chip toffee had that perfect outer crisp with inside chew.

Very cute bakery. Service was good and the prices are reasonable. I found that it had less choices than in some other bakeries in the East Village but what they have is good. The Miso Apple bar was a bit too salty.

The slice of cake, which was about $10, was decent. A little too dry and stiff, and the chilled buttercream wasn’t fluffy enough, but the flavors were good, and the crème brûlée topping was delicious. Arrived a couple minutes before opening and had to wait while they finished setting up, including taking a few extra minutes to put a table and chairs outside past 11. Might come back depending on rotating cake flavor, but not a must.
