Absolutely amazing and authentic Indian cuisine. The best we have ever had. You should go!!
This is a lovely, small but elegant Indian restaurant with a few clearly labeled vegan options. For the hefty price, I frankly wish I'd have gone to a more vegan-centric place. I liked the food, to be sure, and the portions were generous, but I wasn't bowled over. In particular, I asked that the food not be too spicy, and they ensured me that it would not be--but it certainly was (and I saw chiles suspended in both my main dish and the rice).
Red Onion has better Indian food than Tamarind in Tribeca. It's a small restaurant (although they are expanding into their next door space) and when the kitchen is slammed there can be a wait for food. But in terms of quality, value and generous portions this is one of the best Indian restaurants in the city.
Just woke up reminding myself that I had to let everyone checking out these reviews know how incredible this place is. The food, its juicy flavors and mouth melting quality — tasted like the most purest form of love coming from Varon (the owner) and his family back at home.
Aside from the intense aromas, the rich and kind hospitality was felt in the air the moment I stepped Into the door. Getting to know the intentions and hard work put into this place was the cherry on top of an incredible meal— and we only had the Rara Bhuna Goat specialty, garlic naan, and the mango lassi. I can’t imagine how incredible everything else is. For those interested in wine and how it makes itself apparent in indian culture—stay tuned for what Varon is brining back from home.

Very friendly staff en great ambience! The food is also of a high quality. I asked for a spicy korma, but it was too spicy for me. They gave us 3 extra drinks and made the dish again for me. True service!

The food was amazing and the treatment was even better excellent experience 😋 👌 😀
Selfishly I hesitate to rave about this place, because I don’t want it to get more crowded, but the food is exceptional. The space is small and the decor is basic, but the dishes are wonderful- prepared with great care and pride in the excellent ingredients they use.

I have had Indian food in London, Vancouver, San Francisco, Phoenix, and New York. The three of us thought this was the best Indian food with ever had. It was not too expensive and had good ambience and good service. I highly recommend this place but make sure you book ahead.
Ordered take out. Got there earlier then the pickup time, was offered to sit and was given a delicious yogurt-mango drink to sip while we waited. Food came out on-time, it was wonderful.
Highly recommend!!!
