Tucked away on a narrow street in the heart of West Village, Red Paper Clip is a small yet remarkable restaurant that delivers a Michelin-starred dining experience. Its cozy and intimate setting provides the perfect backdrop for a tasting menu that masterfully blends New American, European, and Asian flavors.

The tasting menu is a thoughtfully curated journey, featuring standout dishes like fresh oysters, a vibrant tomato salad, a delicate smoked salmon and caviar bite, and handmade pasta infused with the luxurious aroma of black truffles. The star of the evening is undoubtedly the lobster, presented in three creative and delicious variations. Each dish is crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients and executed with precision and care, reflecting the meticulous attention to detail that earned this restaurant its Michelin star.

Red Paper Clip offers more than just a meal—it’s a dining experience that delights the senses. For anyone seeking inventive cuisine in an intimate setting, this hidden gem is highly recommended.

The food was very good but I'll admit it wasn't take me out of this world good. Nothing was wrong, there were some very good pairings and unique flavors but I expected a bit more for the Michelin Star. The service was very nice but it wasn't overly exceptional. Quaint small place with a minimalist decorative feel. Truly a city stop kind of place.

Had amazing food and such a special birthday experience. For a high end restaurant pricing for tasting menu is very affordable. Recommend!

Food started strong, but went downhill as we went on. Service was definitely the weak spot. Would not return.

Every dish offered something special. We found this place via recommendation on our stroll through the West Village. It was pretty clear why this restaurant won a Michelin star in 2023.

We had the tasting menu which was really good. The service is spontaneous and approachable. It’s definitely a Michelin-deserving food, but you also feel the chill atmosphere of the West Village.

My dinner here was like a little survey of some classic NYC dishes, heavily informed by immigrant foods. The flavors were generally really strong, and while I read some critic reviews that found the dishes not very coherent, I liked the variety. It felt like a distillation of potential days in my parallel lives—bagels and lox in the morning, my family’s regular Taiwanese lunch spot, snacking on some chips, Cantonese for dinner, oyster happy hours, Japanese for fun, Asian cakes with an Italian twist.

Beyond the fun flavors, I also enjoyed the textures of the foods a lot, which is maybe a bit of a weird point to note prominently. But the mashed potatoes for the caviar snack were so perfectly grabbable yet melty, the agnolotti skins were just chewy enough, and the lobster was maybe the most tender I’ve had in my life to date. The staff were also really great, checking that I had a good dinner.

I’d say this is one of the more creative tasting menus I’ve had lately, for the sheer breadth of punchy flavors packed together.

For a Michelin star restaurant this meal was definitely disappointing. Flavors and combinations were boring.

This place made no sense.
Saturday at 8pm. We were the only people in there.

I feel like the star is working against them. The service was good, but it is not a curated experience typical of a Michelin restaurant. The food was great, flavors were star worthy, maybe the presentation wasn't.

If the restaurant didn't have a Michelin star, you would walk away feeling like you discovered a neighborhood gem. The food was great, the service and ambiance were decent - and it was priced appropriately.

We had shared the Brioche, Radicchio, Cavatelli, Agnolotti, and Lobster. The Cavatelli is the only dish we would skip. We would come back for the Agnolotti alone.

The service was the best dish.
The desert was empty.
The oyster was good. The caviar served with purée, the potatoes took all the flavors.
