One of my favorite spots for Japanese food in the city, so I'll be sad to see it go. It's slated to close down early next year. I hope the owner can find a new location; a very warm, talented guy. If you manage to make it there, you must try to pork cutlet slider, but he also offers a variety of sushi, udon, skewers and other delicious treats. Sapporo on draft. Please support small businesses like this during what is a difficult time for all.
This place was pretty close to what I expected: a down to earth Japanese establishment where I can have drinks and fried Japanese foods that go well with those drinks. Their food did exactly what was needed. Beer was cold.
Kondo, owner & head chef of 15 years. The bar is rock & roll, they have a jukebox that’s filled with 50’s & 60’s rock + roll tunes. The food is amazing, fried chicken is fire, ramen is A1 and kondo doesn’t play on sushi. This is the only spot in the city where you can find Yatsushika sake, as Kondo’a grandfather the brew master at the distillery during WWII. They pour the best beer in all of nyc.
