Horrible Custumer service. Asked for a menu, and didn’t give me the light of day. I would not recommend this place to anyone. La Gordita con el tubi, you need training

Today, January 5, in the afternoon, I tried to order a cold sandwich that they always make and today that lady gave me a bad attitude. She looked at me with blank eyes. The service here is not the best and they do not serve you with respect. I was better off without ordering.

The lady who took my order today was very rude and had an unpleasant expression on her face. No wonder the people I talk to don't go there anymore if they don't like their jobs. I suggest you don't work there, but I was being very nice.

Very rude staff without education to top it off rude.

I ordered a whole chicken and what I got was three dried out wings and a piece of dry hard to chew chicken breast. I should have known something was up when they laughed while handing me my order. Avoid at all costs

One of the things I love about living in New York City is discovering small, family-run eateries in vibrant ethnic communities. Yesterday I was with some friends on Dyckman St in Upper Manhattan after visiting The Cloisters. We were looking for a local place to have a late lunch, and discovered this very informal Dominican restaurant which is an absolute gem! None of us are of Latino background nor speak Spanish, and the staff spoke minimal English. But the proprietor and her employees were extraordinarily helpful in putting together several wonderful platters of delicious traditional Dominican food, which was additional challenging because one of us is vegan. The people working there were very welcoming and absolutely delightful! We loved what we ordered and will definitely return! (The place is located a few blocks north of Dyckman Street, and a short walk from A and #1 subway stations.)

Vegetarian options: Our vegan friend ordered a wonderful looking plate of arroz con gandules (yellow rice and pigeon peas) and stewed eggplant, which she said was delicious! So much so that she bought take-away portions to bring home!

Wheelchair accessibility: Street level entry. Tables are far enough apart so someone using a wheelchair would be comfortable. I’m sure that the staff would be very helpful!

The food is very expensive and they charge taxes, for example I ordered a breakfast, taro, three slices of cheese, onion, and a three-dollar venison, giving me a total of $13 dollars., but the last time I ordered they charged me $14 dollars plus taxes, plus the tip., but that's why I don't recommend tropical flavor, because they charge people a high price.,

Fantastic experience! As soon as we entered, we were greeted by Angelica. She provided such a warm welcome and gave her recommendations. Her descriptions of the dishes felt as if she went into the kitchen and cooked it herself. We will be back!!!

My experience at Sabor Tropical is always a good time with amazing food… which is what keeps me coming back! The Lomo Salteado is perfect… just like Angelica who waited on us. She was so attentive and kind. Definitely worth the drive in rainy weather too.

I like the food, what I don't like are those who tend to ignore you or ignore you, those who arrive later already know each other and are served first
