Sala Thai is a beautiful room, and always packed with people, lots of happy, celebratory people, and so, yes, it can get loud, because people are happy to be eating such well-plated, delicious food, and cocktails that are as potent as they are palate-pleasing.
While the food and atmosphere were both very good, I was quite annoyed to be rushed out after only one hour at our table, especially when they have a sign posted that there is a 90 minute limit per seating. We were not walk-ins, I made a reservation more than one week in advance.
Is always the food is excellent, but we were seated  in a new space and I was unbearably hot. We asked the waitress if she could check on the air conditioning and she told us she doesn't have time for that !!!
