Hostess told us 20min wait for a table, sat us at the bar to wait while we had a drink and then completely forgot about us.A bit over an hour passes without any updates so we ask her and she points to a table and says that it’s being cleaned for us to sit. Ok, great. So we wait for it to be ready and watch as SHE PROCEEDS TO SIT A DIFFERENT COUPLE THERE… completely disrespectful. No apologies and just seemed completely miserable the whole time.We decided to leave hungry and dejected. As we were leaving the nice bartender asks us what happened we tell him we never got a table and he went to talk to the hostess and came back to say sorry all tables had a reservation.If they were fully booked and unable to take walk ins why not just say so when we initially came in? Would’ve saved us the time and aggravation. We like dining here but would reconsider in the future if we can’t get a real estimate of a walk in table. Kindly retrain your hostess to handle walk ins and reservations properly and provide decent customer service.

The waiting experience at the restaurant is not very good. It can get crowded when your table isn't ready and the hostess doesn't have the ability to manage the traffic. This can annoy people sitting at the bar. It was stressful.

The margarita pizza is great and Also their neapolitan pizza best. And the burgers awesome. I like the way they make the bread. And the burger was wonderful. It was onions. Bacon onions were caramelized. It was cooked perfectly. Everything was wonderful. I'm definitely going back.
Everything is always Fantastic!!! Even Happy hour menu is highly recommended. No1 bartender in UES. Very friendly and pleasant.

The order never arrived after waiting for 2 hours ! All the time , the tracking showed us that the food was arriving soon. The person who answered the phone said the food would arrive in 10 min but the 10 minutes never ended .

Enjoyed my experience at this cozy Italian neighborhood restaurant! We had the most delightful dinner. We started with the crispy light Fritto Misto and fresh organic San Matteo Salad. I indulged and ordered the Pappardelle Funghi and my guest had the Lasagna both dishes delicious. Everything was prepared to perfection and plated beautifully! Will definitely be returning!

First time since they moved to this location.the food and wine offering is good to very good tasty and fresh and the service professional and friendly. The noise level is however very very high ( it was a saturday night) do not go there for an deep conversion with a friend or partner . May try it again on a Monday night . The tables are VERY closed to each other making the place really crammed.
The is by far the best pizza place in NYC area. This place has authentic Italian food, you can’t go wrong with this place. As much as we loved the old location, the new one is absolute heaven. I highly recommend our favorite- prosciutto e buffala pizza.

The food is excellent at the new San Matteo. Just like being in Italy. We've been a few times now and have had pizza, calzone, pasta, contorni, various apps and a friend had the veal parm and said it was delicious!

Stopped by to look at the menu. Very pricy. Was wanting some Veal Parmigiano. $65.00 here...no thanks, with a glass of wine close to $100.00. Will pass.

Ordered a mushroom pizza with truffles. Mushrooms were canned and not fresh and there were no truffles. Processed truffle oil.The margherita pizza was good. We let our waitress know that we didn’t like the mushroom pizza after eating one bite and nothing was done about it. She literally threw the entire pizza out when she cleaned our table. No apologies or refund or offer to change it for something else. Not a good experience.

Best pizza on the UES! And it's crafted even better in this new, beautiful space, at 1716 2nd Ave (corner of 89th). Deliciously crafted, expertly baked thin pies with fresh ingredients and billowy, perfectly browned crust. Toppings include interesting combinations of fresh mozzarella and buffalo mozzarella, flavorful marinara, pancetta, sweet sausage, anchovies, prosciutto, etc. We used to eat at or get take out from the old (way too small) spot a block away at 2nd and 90th. The new location at 2nd and 89th is a beautifully designed sit-down restaurant with a bar and plenty of seating. Full menu includes white pizzas, salads, antipasti, and pasta dishes, but we haven't tried those yet because we love the red pizzas so much. We have had the broccoli rabe with garlic and it was perfectly sautéed.
