Teetering on claiming the identity of a restaurant, a to-go pizzeria, or a bar, San Matteo does have an excellent product. But as mentioned, this lack of identity adds to the confusion of how to service their customers. Feeling rushed is an understatement- waiters and busboys rush around at high speeds, as if they were racing against a clock. The joke of it all- while we were having our appetizer, our bottle of wine not yet served, our main courses showed up. We particularly asked...

We usually come here for pizza on the Upper East Side. The pizza is always tasty, the service is quick and friendly, and it’s usually not too crowded—so getting a table is easy.

Atmosphere Absolutely calming a gem in the middle of the city where they have authentic Italian food made correctly with a lot of flavor. The service is absolutely impeccable where the owner treats everybody the same and all his employees follow suit. Great place to get away for a date with the wife highly recommend this place!
