Cute and homey restaurant. Went early. Absolutely fabulous pasta dishes. Cooked properly and very flavorful. The special lasagna bolognese was really amazing and loved the limone and vongole! The only disappointment was the pollo bolognese. Was really more of a chicken parmagiana so our friend was a bit disappointed. The verdure alla piastra was lacking. Very much enjoyed the coniglio as well. Lovely dish. Overall a bit pricey. Wine list had a nice selection (missing a few bottles), but pricey overall (as is generally). Would have been helpful to have the owner come to the table to make some suggestions as the server wasn't too well versed in the wines. Otherwise, very good. We would enjoy returning!

Pasta was not cooked had to send back. Other pasta was overcooked and not seasoned. Meatball was dry.

Even though restaurant was packed with early Saturday dinner reservations we got nice seats at the bar and had a reliably nice dinner, with excellent service and dishes exactly as ordered. Our only request is for Sandro's to expand its dessert menu a bit with more options, including chocolate sorbet! Otherwise perfect and less expensive than other East Side Italians.

When we arrived, we were given a table in the back as we had a baby and a stroller. We were quickly brought a delicious mug of home made lentil soup which warmed us up after a brisk walk. We shared a Caesar salad for the table and I think it was the best Caesar I've had so far during my 1 month stay in the city (trying as many italian restaurants as I can). We then each had a half portion of the pasta, which was incredibly good. I had the pasta limone which I could not finish, I tried my husbands Bolognese with homemade fettuccini and it was also delicious. My husband and I shared the pork chop which was milinase style and our other guest had the ribeye which was sliced very thin....never seen it prepared that way, but he loved it. They then brought us a lemon cookie hot out of the oven and they also gave us a shot of peach grappas. It was a wonderful experience and I would absolutely go back. Great atmosphere, service and food.

Excellent cooking, family-run neighborhood spot. Reasonable wine list. Exceptionally noisy, front of restaurant uncomfortably draughty in cold weather. Cramped.

From the moment you walk through the door, the hospitality is exceptional. The food, wine and service are top notch. A true neighborhood gem.

Good food. Great service. Tables are a bit cramped especially if your table is in the middle row. Generally very good would return.

I brought 3 friends visiting from England last night and they loved the entire dining experience at Sandro's. The food and service were superb, as always.

Food was delicious, and the extra items (lentil soup, aperitivo and dessert cookies) were so delicious and appreciated. Pasta was a hit as well!

The Halibut and pasta with lemon were delicious. I would definitely return to have these again.

As always, it was both a pleasant and delicious experience. Truly my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC.

Tucked away on E 86th Street, Sandro's exceeded my expectations. The waiter was attentive - just the right amount. Food was delicious - the carpaccio appetizer was superb! And there were the little touches that make a dining experience special: complimentary grappa and cookies after dinner. I will be back!

There was a very respectful (and attractive) group of gentlemen and gentleladies at the bar watching a Tuesday night MAC football game between two 5-3 teams. Their enthusiasm for watching a game inside a nice Italian restaurant, albeit in a muted fashion fit for their surroundings, was contagious and improved the dining experience of all around them. Great food, delectable wine, and a small corner for college football -- truly something for everyone on a Tuesday night. Come for the cacio e pepe, stay for the charm of a neighborhood stalwart where, like Cheers, everybody knows your name. The freshness of the ingredients is matched only by the freshness of the air breathed into the UES restaurant scene by Sandro's.
