I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the Sarabeth bakery inside Chelsea market, NYC, USA.

This bakery, located inside Chelsea Market, is part of a well-known chain. I tried the Linz tart and a coffee — the tart was good but a bit industrial, lacking a touch of originality, and the coffee was just average. There are a few counter seats and a small table available. Unfortunately, the service was quite unfriendly and slow, with no smiles or warmth, which was disappointing given the great location. Definitely room for improvement if they want to keep their customers coming back.

Way to lose return.customers over dumb things. After spending over $30 on breakfast, including an orange juice, I asked for some tap water because the juice was really small and I needed something to finish my food. I even tipped on my order. The lady informed me that they do not provide free water but I can buy a bottle. I didn’t like this and asked if we could ask the manager. She said there is no manager in the store. Odd, so no one is in charge?
Anyway, it would have cost her nothing to just fill a cup with water so I don’t choke on their food. Now they get a one star review and that’s probably more expensive than a cup of water.
This is what bad customer service looks like.

Very convenient but my god if the cake isn’t dry as a desert. Most food at this place is passable at best.

Got the daily special and prices are certainly on the pricier side. Took much longer than expected when other orders after mine were served

This is tucked away a bit in Chelsea market, but a great spot to grab a snack to take on the west side highway. My favorite is to get the plain biscuits and the mini jar of strawberry jam. Biscuit dipped in jam is perfection!

While strolling through Chelsea Market in the morning, I gave in to my empty stomach and stopped by Sarabeth's for a quick bite. Honestly, judging by all the ropes and line dividers, I figured this place gets seriously packed. Lucky for me, it was quiet that morning so I slipped right in.
I ordered the Cornbread-Avocado Bruschetta with a black coffee. I didn’t expect the wait to stretch close to 15 minutes, especially with no one ahead of me. It threw me off a bit, and to be honest, the presentation didn’t exactly scream “worth the wait” either.
But that first bite proved me wrong. Toppings were layered with care, and the cornbread underneath was surprisingly moist without feeling too dense. Each bite came with something different, thanks to the mix of creamy avocado, a light touch of vinaigrette, and some fresh cilantro that kept things refreshing. It was this mellow blend of North American and Latin flavors that somehow made the dish stand out.
So yeah, in the end, it was worth it. Only wish I had someone with me to try more things together. Maybe next time.

We had a banana muffin and ginger pecan tart, which were good, but inside and outside sitting is without much atmosphere

It is very expensive but beautiful. If you can, grab a table that faces Central Park.
